Bernardo Silva is not expected to win individual accolades.

The Portuguese playmaker has been pivotal in Guardiola’s squad this season and can operate in a variety of different roles.

In the past ten years, Ballon d’Or has completed been dominated by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, both of whom are prolific goalscorers.

Even the current crop of players such as Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe also score an ample amount of goals which easily puts them in contention for Ballon d’Or.

Pep Guardiola explains the reason why Bernardo won’t ever the Ballon d’Or.

The Catalan told Sky Sports: “He is never going to win the Ballon d’Or because you have to be on social media, you have to not just win but score a lot of goals and Bernardo does not have that quality.

“If one day it will happen I would love it, I would be happy for him like any other player that we have here that one day would win the Ballon d’Or.

“I would be more than grateful to experience that award with him. For me, as a manager, he can do everything.”
