Pep Guardiola has criticised Kevin De Bruyne for not improving his basics.

Pep Guardiola has urged the Belgian midfielder to continue getting better and improve the basics of his game.

Man City thrashed RB Leipzig 7-0 last night and De Bruyne was one of the best performers in that game.

De Bruyne had a few below-par performances in the past even though he leads the Premier League assists chart with 13.

But Guardiola reiterates that he can always rely on the 31-year-old midfielder and has urged him to continue to improve.

“Kevin is a player for the dynamics. If he doesn’t have the dynamic or movements he is not a player like can play there,” Guardiola explained.

Building from Bernardo, Erling. Intensity we have, this is the player we know. I know Kevin can’t play all the time in that position. You have to understand his quality. When it happens, the assists come free, the goals come free.

“[But] he doesn’t do that after the amount of balls he lost to give up transitions for the opponents [in previous games]. He doesn’t make assists or goals.
