Phil Fodenis in danger of missing England’s final against Italy.
Unfortunately, the Manchester City midfielder picked up a foot injury in training which he might not be able to recover from in time.
Foden’s chances were already frail after Bukayo Saka’s efficient displays down the right flank. Jadon Sancho has started just once in the Euros, in the 4-0 win over Ukraine. Foden otherwise started off well but had to miss games due to COVID-19 complications.
Gareth Southgate to @bbc5live on Phil Foden: “He is a doubt + we will have to check again but he has got a fairly minor foot injury. It’s just whether it’s going to be one that clears up in time to take part in the game, so we will have to assess that again later.”

This could be a huge blow for England because as much talent as Gareth Southgate already has, Foden brings something very different to the table. Having his skills at your disposal at any point of the game is very important.
Italy are a technically strong team who will be hard to break down without the tact and poise of players like Foden. But luckily for England, they do have that in plenty.
