Bernardo Silva expresses his desire to join Benfica

If Bernardo Silva decides to leave Manchester City this summer, PSG will compete with Juventus and Benfica for his services. Although Silva, the club’s captain, has continued to be an important member of Pep Guardiola’s team this season, it appears that he will leave the team this summer when his contract ends. Even if he is still playing well, it is now uncertain if he will sign a new contract at the Etihad Stadium; an exit appears to be the most likely scenario.

PSG is one of the teams competing to sign the 31-year-old if he decides to go on, as I disclosed on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast. Guardiola’s team now has four trophies up for grabs, so how they finish this season will determine Man City’s summer transfer intentions.

The Italian powerhouses are reportedly considering a move for Silva’s services with his former club, Benfica, after former Juventus player Miralem Pjanić encouraged them to chase Silva this summer.

PSG join Juventus and Benfica in Bernardo Silva race

The Portugal international has been linked to PSG in the past, and if he decides to leave the Etihad Stadium, PSG is expected to make an attempt to sign him. “Bernardo Silva, if he does end up leaving Manchester City, which is looking likelier by every passing week, there will be a number of top clubs looking to sign him,” I said in an interview with the Transfer Insider podcast.

“I believe that more teams than only Juventus will be interested in him if he becomes a free agent. Benfica is another team that has expressed interest. They would adore returning him to his own country of Portugal.

“I’m sure there will be more interest; PSG has also been mentioned, and I’m sure other elite teams will want to recruit a player of Silva’s calibre. ” I believe he will have his choice of clubs to join if he does see out his contract at Man City, and he could be one of the biggest free agents come summertime.”
