Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has urged everyone to stop speculating about Pep Guardiola’s future, insisting that the constant debate is creating “unnecessary noise” around the club.
“Stop the Noise”: Aguero Breaks Silence on Guardiola’s Manchester City Future
Despite Guardiola’s contract running until 2026, rumors have swirled in recent months suggesting the Catalan manager might leave at the end of the current season.
Links to former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca have only fueled the fire, but Aguero believes the discussion is premature and unhelpful.
“Pep still has one more year on his contract,” Aguero said in an interview with Trivela, as translated by Sport Witness.
“It is a debate that does not help anyone and only creates unnecessary noise around something that should not even be on the table right now.
When the time comes, it will be resolved. It is not something to worry about.”
The Argentine striker, who spent a decade at the Etihad and remains the club’s all-time leading scorer, worked closely with Guardiola during City’s most successful era.
He witnessed firsthand how the manager transformed the team into a dominant force in England and Europe, delivering the club’s first Champions League title in 2023 as part of a historic treble.
Aguero stressed that the focus should remain on the team’s performance rather than hypothetical scenarios.
He also expressed confidence in the club’s ability to handle any future transition, pointing to the long-term planning already in place.
Sporting director Hugo Viana has helped shape a squad that blends experience with youth, ensuring the club remains competitive regardless of who sits in the dugout.
While questions about life after Guardiola are inevitable for a club of City’s stature, the hierarchy has consistently prioritized stability and continuity.
For now, though, Aguero’s message is clear: enjoy the present. Guardiola remains in charge, the system works, and the noise surrounding his future serves no purpose.
