As the football world waits for Pep Guardiola to decide his future at Manchester City, a Spanish coach has already thrown his hat into the ring.

‘I See Myself as Ready’ – Michel Opens Door to City Move

Girona manager Michel Sanchez has declared that he feels ready to take the hot seat at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola is currently weighing up his options following the club’s recent Champions League exit to Real Madrid.

While he insists he has the energy to continue, reports suggest he will sit down with club officials next week to make a final call on whether to see out the final year of his contract or walk away at the end of the season.

With uncertainty looming over the dugout, speculation regarding potential replacements has already begun.

Among the names being discussed is Michel, who has earned plaudits for his impressive work with Girona.

In a recent interview, the 48-year-old made it clear that he believes he has what it takes to manage at the highest level.

“I do see myself as ready. I see myself as ready to coach any team,” Michel stated.

“I don’t know if they see it that way. Obviously, it’s not the same, but I have the ability to adapt and I want to experience it.”

Michel led Girona to a stunning third-place finish in La Liga last season, securing the club’s first-ever Champions League qualification.

That remarkable achievement previously put him on City’s radar as a long-term option to succeed Guardiola.

Given that Girona is part of the City Football Group, the Premier League champions already have inside knowledge of his coaching methods.

However, interest in Michel has reportedly cooled over the last 18 months, partly due to the departure of former sporting director Txiki Begiristain.

Still, Michel remains a highly rated tactician in Spain. With Villarreal also facing an uncertain situation on their bench, he has been sounded out as a potential candidate for that role as well.

For now, all eyes remain on Guardiola. But if the Catalan coach does decide to move on, Michel has made one thing clear: he would not shy away from the challenge.
