Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders faces an uncertain future at the Etihad following a challenging spell that has seen his game time dry up since February.
Reijnders could return to AC Milan as Man City consider summer exit
The Dutch international joined City from AC Milan in the previous transfer window and started his Premier League career brightly under Pep Guardiola.
He has made 26 league appearances this season, starting 17 of them, and contributed five goals and two assists.
Reijnders also featured regularly in Europe, playing 10 Champions League matches and providing three assists.
However, the 26-year-old has struggled for consistent minutes since February, and reports from Calciomercato suggest he is enduring one of the toughest phases of his professional career.
Guardiola has made tactical adjustments to keep City locked in a tight title race with Arsenal. Those changes have improved results but limited Reijnders’s opportunities.
The return of Rodri from injury has further complicated matters, with the team now on a strong winning run and midfield places becoming harder to secure.
City could consider selling Reijnders when the summer window opens. A potential return to AC Milan remains a realistic option, according to the report.
The reigning Premier League champions expect a significant midfield reshuffle in the coming months.
Bernardo Silva will leave at the end of his contract, while uncertainty surrounds Rodri amid ongoing links with Real Madrid.
City are also pursuing Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, which could push Reijnders even further down the pecking order if the club brings in fresh faces.
For now, the Dutch midfielder must fight for his place during the season’s run-in. But with Guardiola favouring other options and new signings likely arriving, Reijnders may need to look elsewhere to revive his career this summer.
