Tottenham are still pushing to sign Manchester City winger Savinho ahead of the transfer deadline, according to journalist Dean Jones. The North London side are reportedly keeping contact lines open in case there is an opportunity to strike a late deal despite Man City’s reluctance to sell the 21-year-old forward.
Even after acquiring Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig on Friday, Spurs are still interested in acquiring Savinho since Thomas Frank’s team is searching for several additions to their offensive options towards the end of the transfer window.
James Maddison suffered a permanent ACL injury, and the Lilywhites lost their former captain, Son Heung-min, to Los Angeles FC, an MLS team, earlier this month.
The England international has joined Dejan Kulusevski on the sidelines as the Swede recovers from a knee injury he suffered in May; his comeback might take six to seven months.
Jones claims Tottenham hasn’t entirely abandoned a bid for Savinho because they still believe the Brazilian wants to go to North London.
Tottenham Not Giving Up on Savinho
Pep Guardiola’s team has been hesitant to move Savinho this late in the transfer window since the 21-year-old’s exit would probably compel Man City to go out and find a late replacement.
Savinho is anticipated to make a comeback during the September international break after missing the start of the 2025–26 season due to an injury sustained during preseason.
TBR Football revealed last week that Ademola Lookman had received a bid from Tottenham following the failure of his transfer to Inter Milan. The North London club may try to make a bid for the 27-year-old after finding out that Savinho is no longer available.
The attacker’s transfer to Inter fell through because Atalanta wanted more than £43 million for him, but Spurs would not have any problems paying this amount. The winger had another strong season in Italy last season, scoring 20 goals and dishing out seven assists in 40 games.
