Tottenham has renewed their pursuit of Savinho, a top player for Manchester City, after escaping relegation. Last summer, Tottenham tried to get Savinho from City after failing to sign Antoine Semenyo of Bournemouth. But in October, the 22-year-old winger signed a new contract that will last until 2031 after Pep Guardiola convinced him to stay.
But since joining City in January, Savinho has only started nine games. Semenyo became a regular and scored the game-winning goal in the FA Cup final. Enzo Maresca, the potential Pep replacement, could want to personally oversee Savinho, but there’s a high chance City will sell at the right price, according to insiders.
It’s also thought that Newcastle, who could move England winger Anthony Gordon this summer, is keeping an eye on Savinho’s circumstances. Over the past 12 months, Tottenham’s search for a new winger has been fruitless. They paid £55 million to get Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, but the Ghanaian star had a season marred by injuries.
Tottenham reignite transfer interest in Savinho
Last summer, Tottenham was linked to a bid for the Brazilian, but they were unable to finalise a deal because City ultimately prevented his departure. The 22-year-old signed a new contract with the Citizens and remained at the Etihad Stadium despite rumours that he was eager to go.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian is still open to moving to north London, and Tottenham is prepared to start negotiations to sign the forward this summer.
He stated on his YouTube channel: “Watch Tottenham and Savinho once more. Tottenham made two formal offers to Manchester City for Savinho last summer, but the latter chose not to move forward.
“City was thinking about letting Savinho go to Tottenham and pursuing Rodrygo from Real Madrid. After that, the Rodrygo agreement fell through, and City also made the decision to give Savinho a new contract since they trusted him.
