Young players in Manchester City

Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with Manchester City over a potential £70 million deal for Brazilian winger Savinho, according to reports.

Tottenham Make £70m Move for Man City Winger Savinho

The 21-year-old has emerged as a key target for Spurs boss Thomas Frank, who sees the versatile attacker as the “ideal” reinforcement following Son Heung-min’s exit and James Maddison’s long-term injury.

Negotiations between the two clubs are now underway, with Savinho reportedly open to the move if an agreement is reached.

Savinho, who contributed three goals and 13 assists for City last season, offers flexibility on either wing a trait Pep Guardiola frequently utilized.

His arrival would break Tottenham’s transfer record, surpassing the £65m spent on Dominic Solanke in 2024.

Spurs have already been active this summer, signing Mohammed Kudus (£55m), Kevin Danso, and Mathys Tel, while adding Bayern Munich’s Joao Palhinha on loan.

However, Frank remains keen to bolster his attack, especially with Maddison sidelined for six to seven months due to an ACL injury.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United have reportedly failed in a £43m bid for Barcelona’s Ferran Torres, with the Spaniard keen to stay at Camp Nou.

The Magpies’ pursuit highlights the competitive market for attacking talent, with Tottenham now pushing ahead in their efforts to land Savinho.

A deal at £70m would represent a major statement from Spurs as they aim to compete at the top end of the Premier League. Savinho’s Premier League experience and creative flair could prove crucial in filling the void left by Son and Maddison.

With the transfer window closing soon, Tottenham are working swiftly to finalize their squad for the new campaign. Savinho’s potential signing would add another exciting dimension to Frank’s attacking options.
