Man City pushing to open contract talks with Erling Haaland amid Real Madrid links

Haaland will see his contract expiring in four years.

Man Cty are reportedly planning to open contract talks with Erling Haaland. They are pushing because Real Madrid are planning to move for him next summer.

The 23-year-old has been in great form for the Sky Blues since his arrival from Dortmund. He has scored 69 goals and registered 13 assists in 71 appearances in all competitions.

The Norway international was the vital player in Man City’s glorious run last season. He scored 52 goals to complete the treble. He has scored 17 goals in 18 matches this season.

A recent report said that Real Madrid are not planning to show interest in Kylian Mbappe. They shifted their attention on Haaland. Man City star is having a buy-out fee of around €200m in his contract.

Haaland will see his contract expiring in four years. As per 90min, the Cityzens are pushing to open discussions with him over a new contract. They want to increase the release clause in Haaland’s deal.

Rafaela Pimenta was also asked about his future and he said, “Erling is the master of his destiny. Not just now but his entire life and 100%. What I mean is that you have to use balance. We, club and player. We are all in the same boat.

“Things have to be talked about, treated, in such a way that everyone is okay. Comfortable and satisfied with the experience, they live together.

“I think it is not necessary to say that Erling does what he wants. It is not true. Erling is always going to do what is good for him and for his club, Manchester City. When everyone is willing to make a change, it will be done.

“He’s not the type of player who’s going to say: ‘I’m leaving, bye, I don’t want to know anything’. It is not like this. And it’s not going to happen because respect comes before everything. If they give it to him, he will give it too.”
