Pep Guardiola believes chasing Arsenal is good for Manchester City.

The Cityzens won the league by five points last season despite being behind Arsenal for the majority of the season.

They suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Mikel Arteta’s men and have now witnessed back-to-back defeats after losing to Wolves last weekend.

Pep has never lost against Arsenal since he took over Manchester City in 2016 and has now slipped two behind the North London club.

But the Catalan manager expects his players to bounce back from their recent setbacks as they chase their fourth successive Premier League title.

“One deflection, We had 10-15 really good moments in the first half, [Arsenal] started really well in the second half, they increased they intensity,” Guardiola told BBC Sport.

“It was a tight game. Not many chances, one deflection and we conceded a goal.

“It was a tight game. We defended really well, the players gave everything. No regrets at all, it is football, we lost the game. Maybe we need to be a little bit behind our contenders after what has happened in the past. We will come back stronger.”
