Raheem Sterling expects more regular football in his career.

The English forward is considered to be one of the best players in the world right now.

He has grown frustrated under manager Pep Guardiola due to lack of game time.

Sterling said: “If there was the opportunity to go somewhere else for more game time I would be open to it at this moment in time.

“As I said, football is the most important thing to me — challenges that I have set myself from a young age and dreams as well.

“As an English player all I know is the Premier League and I’ve always thought you know maybe one day I’d love to play abroad to see how I would come up against that challenge.”

This came as a shock to Guardiola who didn’t expect Sterling was unhappy at the Etihad.

“I didn’t know [he had considered leaving], I think the club didn’t know it either,” Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference, via the Independent.

“Raheem is our player, hopefully he’ll be incredibly important player for us. I don’t know if he’ll play more.”
