Kevin de Bruyne blames the schedule for his recent hamstring injury.

The Belgian midfielder is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and won’t be available until the end of this year.

He underwent surgery on his hamstring back in August after picking up the issue in the first game of the current season.

De Bruyne suffered the same injury in the Champions League final towards the end of last season and was forced through the pain to secure the treble for Manchester City.

Recently Pep Guardiola has suggested that the Belgian has been recovering ahead of schedule but De Bruyne himself revealed there is still not a confirmed return date.

“It [the recovery] is actually going very well,” De Bruyne told VTM Nieuws. “There will be a major scan next week and then we will know how the injury is progressing.

“In the end, everything is going according to schedule. City are daily in touch with surgeon Geert Declercq and Belgian physio Lieven Maesschalck, but they have not given me a deadline for when I will be able to play football again.”
