Man City identifies Girona boss as potential successor to Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola has just over a year left to run on his current deal.

Manchester City are looking at future replacement for Pep Guardiola. They have reportedly identified Girona boss Michel as a potential successor to Pep.

The Premier League giants won the historic treble last season and they have been oustanding under Pep Guardiola since he too over at Etihad.

Guardiola has guided the club to 16 silverwares, including a Premier League title, a Champions League trophy and an FA Cup in last season’s treble-winning campaign.

Manchester City lost to Real Madrid in penalty shootout loss at Champions League. They will now take part in FA Cup semifinal against Chelsea to defend their title. They still have two trophies to win this season.

Pep Guardiola has just over a year left to run on his current deal which will expire at the end of the 2024-25 season. He is keen to extending his stay, but there is still a possibility that he could decide to leave next summer.

The Citizens are considering Girona boss Michel as Guardiola’s potential replacement. He achieved promotion via the playoffs in his first season, before leading the club to a 10th-place finish in the 2022-23 La Liga campaign.

Girona remained in the title race in first half of the top-flight. They slipped to third but still, they are having their best season. They will claim Champions League qualification for the first time.
