Manchester City sets sights on Club Brugge’s Tajon Buchanan for January transfer window

Manchester City is allegedly interested in signing Club Brugge’s versatile attacker Tajon Buchanan in the upcoming January transfer window.

The 24-year-old Canadian international, who joined Brugge from New England Revolution in 2022 for a reported £5.5 million, has been a significant player for the Belgian club, proving his abilities in a number of scenarios.

Buchanan, who has primarily played as a right-back this season, has three goals and four assists in 20 games, attracting the attention of elite clubs.

Despite trying to repeat his American success in Belgium, Pep Guardiola has taken note of Buchanan’s dynamic playing style. Guardiola is looking to strengthen City’s options on the right wing, especially with the loss of Riyad Mahrez.

Buchanan’s adaptability and attacking prowess make him a tempting target for the Citizens, who are presently fourth in the Premier League and want to maintain their title challenge.

However, The Canadian’s skills will not be cheap, with Club Brugge apparently wanting over £50 million for the winger.

Inter Milan are said to be monitoring Buchanan’s position as well, potentially setting the scenario for a January bidding war. A sell-on provision with the New England Revolution ensures a 10% cut of any future transfer fee, complicating the financial mechanics of the deal.

As Manchester City prepares for a successful January transfer window, Buchanan’s name has come up as a top target, adding interest to the present Premier League season.

The Citizens will be looking to gain the Canadian’s services in order to strengthen their team as they seek domestic and European trophies.
