Manchester City Optimistic About De Bruyne Contract Despite Setbacks

According to reports, Manchester City’s negotiations with Kevin De Bruyne over a new contract hit a rough patch.

The Belgian ace was negotiating a deal for himself without any representatives.

He is happy at the Etihad Stadium and wants to continue with the Cityzens. However, he was not happy with the first package that was offered to him. De Bruyne believes he meets higher standards in remuneration based on his contributions since 2015.

Fabrizio Romano understands that talks have not died down completely. After a little bump, both parties are back on the negotiation table. City are confident in securing De Bruyne’s future with them. Fans don’t expect any immediate announcements.

De Bruyne still has two years left on his current contract. He won the PFA Player of the Season award for his stellar performances in the Premier League. Even though City did not win any major silverware, De Bruyne’s individual displays put him in the conversation to win Balon d’Or.

He is City’s best creative outlet, chalking up 15 assists in 23 games this season already. He will turn 30 in June. City have other contracts to think about as well. Kun Aguero’s deal is a contract seeing how he is in the final months of his deal.
