Manchester City eyes January reinforcements as Guardiola plans two key signings
Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are allegedly looking to strengthen their squad after a difficult start to the season in the upcoming January transfer window.
The defending Premier League winners, who are now in fourth position, are considering bringing in two crucial players to make up for recent failures.
According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, City may be looking for a new midfielder, especially with the probable exit of Kalvin Phillips. The club is looking to strengthen its midfield as it prepares to defend its Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League wins in the coming year.
In addition, with Erling Haaland’s recent injury scare, Guardiola is said to be seeking a new forward to give depth and firepower up front.
Several names have emerged among the transfer speculations. Tajon Buchanan, an experienced winger from Club Brugge, has been linked with a move to the Etihad.
The Canadian international might cost City £50 million, as the team looks for a suitable replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who left for the Saudi Pro League in the summer.
In midfield, sources claim that Nice player Khephren Thuram has caught City’s attention and might be a potential addition to the squad, potentially competing with Liverpool’s interest.
City appears to be growing its future by focusing on emerging talent in addition to established expertise. The club is presumably confident in bringing in River Plate trio Claudio Echeverri, Agustin Ruberto, and Ian Subiabre, showing a commitment to long-term growth.
Guardiola and Manchester City appear to be gearing up for a busy transfer window, with a dual focus on improving the squad and climbing the Premier League top.
