Kalvin Phillips open to leave Manchester City in the summer.

The 27-year-old midfielder has made only two starts for the Cityzens last season since his big-money move last summer.

He has endured a difficult 15-month campaign since his move from Leeds United in the summer of 2022.

Philipps struggled to earn a spot in Pep Guardiola’s team and was linked with an early exit this summer.

Rodri was the main reason which prevented the England international from establishing himself as a regular last term.

But the Spaniard received a three-match ban following his red card and many thought Phillips would be given the chance in the starting berth.

The English midfielder played the full 90 minutes against Newcastle United but was demoted to the substitutes’ bench for the next three games.

He still has five years remaining on his contract and faces an uncertain future with the Cityzens.

Arsenal legend David Seaman believes the former Leeds midfielder would sanction a move this January.

He said: “How does Kalvin Phillips feel? Rodri has been out for three games and he’s still not a regular. There were a lot of rumours of him leaving on transfer deadline. He could be [one who leaves in January] because you need to play.

“He’s been at City for a few years and his game tally is not massive.”
