Both Phillips and Man City consider a January departure as a ‘very likely’ option at present.
Kalvin Phillips is making headlines due to the rumours of his departure from Manchester City. The 27-year-old is likely to leave the Etihad Stadium in the January transfer window.
The Yorkshireman had a frustrating 15-month spell at Manchester City since joining from Leeds United in July 2022. He has started in just five of his 26 appearances for the club across all competitions.
Phillips doesn’t find his place in the midfield section. Guardiola have options like Rodri, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes, Bernardo Silva, John Stones and Rico Lewis.
The 27-year-old has started just one of his five appearances so far this season. He has five years remaining on his contract at the Etihad.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, both Phillips and Man City consider a January departure as a ‘very likely’ option at present. The Yorkshireman intends to continue to fight for his place under Guardiola in the next two months.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and West Ham United are also planning to sign Phillips.
