Kevin de Bruyne is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

The Belgian midfielder expressed his desire to be the best in the world once he returns to action.

De Bruyne has not featured for the Cityzens since undergoing a hamstring injury in August and was expected to return for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Pep Guardiola had to cope without the Belgian for an extended period of time and recently included him in the squad for next week’s Fifa Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

But De Bruyne is expected to be fit again until mid-January as he makes his recovery from his persistent hamstring injury.

The 32-year-old explains how he has used his time on the sidelines to get even better.

“I want to be the best. It just doesn’t stop. I want to be in the best team, I want to be the best player in the world,” he said. “I still have the motivation every day.

“Even being out for four months, I have tried to find ways to change myself as a player so I can still do what I did before. I am certain I will be fine once I am back on the pitch. I hope to just keep on playing good football and that is good enough.”
