Man City CEO Ferran Soriano remains tight-lipped on Lionel Messi transfer.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner has six months left on his contract and Barcelona has allowed him to have a pre-contract agreement with other clubs in January.

Despite his strife with the Barcelona board, Messi decided to see the end of his contract with the club.

The Cityzens are frontrunners in securing Messi’s signature in order to reunite the Argentine with his former manager Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City CEO Ferran Soriano refused to comment on the possibility of Messi’s transfer to the Etihad.

“I can’t say anything about [Lionel] Messi,” he told Catalunya Radio.

“Anything I say, even if it is obvious, can make a misunderstood headline. It’s clear that Messi has earned the right to choose what he wants to do. He’s the best in the world.

“In previous situations when there were rumours about a potential departure from Barca, he had some obstacles. Now he has nothing that blocks him. He will choose where to play. We’re aware of all the players in the world, but we don’t participate in individual decisions. As Manchester City CEO, I can’t say anything.”
