Man City sign Argentina forward Julian Alvarez

City signed Julian Alvarez on a five-and-a-half-year deal.

Manchester City also made their new signing on the deadline of the January transfer window and it’s Julian Alvarez. The Premier League winners signed Argentina forward on a five-and-a-half-year deal for a reported fee of £14 million ($19 million).

The River Plate striker will remain with River on loan at least until July 2022.

Director of football Txiki Begiristain said, “Premier League leaders City had signed a player with significant potential. We are delighted to confirm that we have completed the signing of Julian Alvarez from River Plate.”

“Julian is a player we have monitored for some time,” he also added.

“He is capable of operating in a number of attacking roles, and we firmly believe he’s one of the best young attacking players in South America.

“I am so happy we have managed to bring him to Manchester City. I really believe we can provide him with the right conditions to fulfil his potential and become a top player.”

Alvarez has appeared five times in Argentina shirt and made his senior international debut in a World Cup qualifier against Chile in June last year. He was also part of the Argentina side that won the Copa America last summer.

Man City will now feel free after losing Sergio Aguero last year. Julian Alvarez will be a big boost to their attacking option.
