Everton facing stiff competition for Manchester City midfield ace Kalvin Phillips

Manchester City achieves historic home win streak, surpassing Manchester United’s record

Manchester City has broken Manchester United’s long-standing record for the longest home-winning streak in all competitions. City won their 21st successive home game with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Brighton over the weekend.

City’s unbeaten streak, which goes back to their last home defeat against Brentford in November, could be extended to a full year if they defeat Bournemouth and Young Boys in their next two home matches.

The win over Brighton moved City to the top of the Premier League, at least for the time being, as they overtook rivals Arsenal.

City’s persistence shines under the leadership of Pep Guardiola. He hasn’t suffered three consecutive domestic league defeats since his time at Bayern Munich in 2015. Guardiola just broke Sir Alex Ferguson’s record for most Champions League wins with a spectacular 3-1 win over RB Leipzig last October.

Manchester City’s recent success shows their constant pursuit of perfection and ambition to write their name in football history.
