Manchester City poised for €60 million splash to secure Takefusa Kubo
Manchester City, the Premier League champions, are presumably planning to spend €60 million on Real Sociedad’s young star, Takefusa Kubo.
The strong winger has been attracting attention since leaving Real Madrid last year, where he failed to make an impact despite a string of loan spells.
Kubo, 22, has found new life with Real Sociedad, where he has six goals and four assists in 23 games during the current 2023/24 season. His outstanding performance has drawn the interest of football powerhouses, including Manchester City.
In order to improve their offensive arsenal, the Sky Blues are willing to put in Kubo’s release clause, showing their commitment to getting the Japanese international.
The deal comes on the back of Manchester City’s offensive inconsistency this season, with Jack Grealish and Phil Foden’s performances suffering peaks and dips.
The €60 million buy in Kubo indicates City’s ambition to bring explode and consistency to their many attacking options.
Surprisingly Kubo’s former club, Real Madrid, has a distinct advantage in their search for his signature. A contractual provision allows them to re-sign the winger for half the price Manchester City is willing to pay.
With Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes as their only reliable forwards, Real Madrid must decide whether to match City’s offer or risk losing Kubo to the Premier League champions.
As the football transfer saga unfolds, eyes will be on whether Manchester City’s lucrative bid will lure Kubo to the Etihad Stadium or if Real Madrid can leverage their contractual advantage to secure the Japanese sensation’s triumphant return to the Santiago Bernabeu.
