Harry Maguire was determined on playing at Old Trafford.

The most expensive defender of all time joined Man United in the summer of 2019 from Leicester City in an £80m deal.

Pep Guardiola has expressed his desire in signing the England international who could offer him Champions League football but Maguire was more inclined to United’s club history and decided to join the Red Devils.

‘Yeah they were both interested,’ Maguire said in an interview with Gary Neville.

‘I spoke to City and I spoke to United but I grew up watching more of United – no disrespect to City – but I grew up watching more of United football, Old Trafford, being one of the biggest teams in the world.

‘I always had my heart set on this club. I spoke to Pep and obviously the football they play and what he’s done for the club. I have great respect for Pep and what he’s brought to football.

‘But it was United – my heart was set from the amount of interest they showed in me. For them to pursue it over 12-15 months just shows how much they believed in me and how much I’d be part of the team.’

Sergio Aguero is close to joining Barcelona in the summer.

The Argentine lifted his fifth Premier League trophy and signed off by scoring two goals in a 5-0 victory over Everton.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola reveals City’s all-time goalscorer Sergio Aguero will join Barcelona when his contract ends in the summer.

“Maybe I reveal a secret,” Guardiola told the BBC’s Match of the Day. “Maybe he is close to agreeing a deal for the club of my heart – for Barcelona.

“He is going to be playing alongside the best player of all time, Messi.”

Guardiola added: “I’m pretty sure he is going to enjoy. And maybe Barcelona are stronger and stronger with him on the pitch.”

Pep Guardiola gave an emotional tribute to Aguero after he played his final Premier League game for the Cityzens.

Pep told Sky Sports: ‘We love him so much. He is a special person for all of us. He is so nice, he is so nice. He helped me a lot, he’s so good.

‘We cannot replace him. We cannot.

‘They are many players we have had to discard like him, Joe Hart and David Silva, who have helped us this club to be what it is.

‘He came on today showed his quality for 30 minutes.

Pep Guardiola Calls Out Need To Sign Prolific Forward Like Kane

Pep Guardiola Calls Out Need To Sign Prolific Forward Like Kane

Pep Guardiola insists he would love to add a goalscorer of Lionel Messi’s calibre to his squad.

Manchester City will bid adieu to their record goalscorer, Kun Aguero after this season.

So far, a replacement has not been signed yet but the summer transfer window is right around the corner. Both Harry Kane and Erling Haaland are thought to be on the market with price tags of nearly £150m or higher.

Guardiola said, “I’d love to have a striker who got 50 goals a season honestly, but at the same time I don’t like to put all the pressure on one player.

“In Barcelona, Lionel Messi, every season since he was born, scored 50 a season. In the Premier League, with just one guy you won’t win it. You need three guys with more than 10 to be competitive.

“But when you have a guy who can get 25-30 it helps a lot, honestly. We will try for the way we play for everyone to be involved.”

City’s scoring burden is shared evenly across the entire squad. But without Aguero, the team will still be at a disadvantage. Perhaps, their only missing piece is a starting number nine.

Kun Aguero Set To Sign With Barcelona

Sergio Aguero is set to sign for Barcelona, as per recent reports.

Manchester City and the Argentine will cut ties after ten years.

His signing has been a grand success with 258 Premier League goals, and 5 league titles. His final game will be against Chelsea in the Champions League final. Pep Guardiola paid tribute to Aguero ahead of City’s meeting with Everton.

“He is incredible,” said Guardiola at his pre-match press conference. “He is humble, being the legend he is.

“I cannot imagine how many more goals he would have scored if he was able to be fitter in some periods of those seasons.

“He is loved by the backroom staff because he is a very nice person and the quality of the player.

“His numbers were incredible and I’m sure the fans will pay tribute to him tomorrow for what he has done for this club.”

“When he fit and has continuity, he is like Romario in Brazil,” added Guardiola.

“In a 5m space he is like a lion in the jungle. He is so quick and the quality to make the goal. For as long as he plays, he will score goals.”

Manchester City Will Find It Difficult To Sign Harry Kane

Manchester City Will Find It Difficult To Sign Harry Kane

Manchester City are not expected to have a clear route to signing Harry Kane.

Tottenham Hotspur is sure to demand a lot to hand off one of the Premier League’s best players off to a rival outfit.

Kane turns 28 in July. He looks fed up at North London and would ideally like to win some trophies at this point of his career. City great, Francis Lee pointed out just how difficult it will be to sign the England skipper.

“There’s three or four players who would suit us down to the ground and another three or four others who could slot into the team and probably be a sensation as well,” Lee told Stats Perform.

“It’d be very difficult for Harry Kane to move to Manchester City because it would be big money for … not a short period but maybe two or three years, something like that.”

“There’s a lot of players, there’s quite a few players who would fit the bill,” Lee added.

“Lukaku would fit the bill. But he didn’t fit the bill when he played in the Premier League before. With Pep, a lot of it is attitude. If your attitude is right, and your training is right, and your fitness is right, everything is going on within the Pep plan, you get there.”

Pep Guardiola is ready for the biggest game in the club’s history.

The Premier League champions will be lifting the trophy after hosting Everton on Sunday.

The squad will then get ready to face Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League final on May 29 at Estádio do Dragão.

“Eleven against 11 against Brighton is tough, 11 against 10 is difficult so we have to improve for the final,” said Man City coach Pep Guardiola.

“Unfortunately after 0-2, we conceded a goal so quick and after they push a lot, we were more tired and could not keep the ball as much as possible, we could not do it and unfortunately we lost the game – congratulations Brighton.

“On Sunday, with our people, we are going to lift the trophy. And after we are going to go for the final of the Champions League.

“I am concerned because this is the final of the Champions League, because the opponent is so tough.

“I saw incredible things today in the pitch with 11 against 10 for 80 minutes in the Premier League.

“We are fortunate to lift the (Premier League) trophy and we did it ourselves. Nobody gave us absolutely anything; nothing.

“That’s why I am so proud of the team; it means how difficult is the Premier League again, and now we’re going to prepare as best as possible for the final of the Champions League.”

Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: “The challenges faced by supporters ahead of this final are multiple, both in financial and logistical terms.

“Hopefully His Highness’ initiative allows the majority of our attending fans to focus on enjoying the day rather than worrying about how to bear the burden of travel costs which have become all the more onerous due to the effects of the pandemic.”

Pep Guardiola admits the Champions League final is not on their minds yet.

City faces Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in the Champions League final on May 29 which takes place in Porto.

Pep Guardiola is focused on the two league games and is currently enjoying being Premier League champions.

“We’ll have six days to focus on the final after Everton,” Guardiola said in a press conference. “Now it is Brighton. You work to prepare for the final as good as possible.

“We won’t be ready if we don’t prepare for Brighton. I didn’t speak one second about Chelsea. Tomorrow we’ll play to win again and this is the best way to arrive to the final. In the six days, we’ll be more focused on Chelsea.

“I told them to forget the football and enjoy your time with your family as a champion.

“We spoke in training that we have a routine, to be focused. They’re training really good. The game against Newcastle, the people were more relaxed but I saw them today so focused.

“We’ll play to win the next one and prepare for the final. I have no doubts the people are incredibly committed to win the three games we still have.”

Pep Guardiola insists the entire focus is now on the Champions League final.

The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager claimed the Premier League crown for the third time in four years.

The Spaniard also won the Carabao Cup for the fourth consecutive time.

They had the perfect Premier League title celebrations at their training complex after their second domestic triumph this term.

Guardiola told Sky Sports News: “The night was nice when we were champions and Leicester won at Old Trafford. We had a celebration here in our bubble at the training centre, we drank, we danced, we laughed.

“We have good guys in the backroom staff who created a good environment in the party so we celebrated that night it was perfect and the day after, back to business.

“I told my players to celebrate but to stay focused on the three Premier League games and in every training session.

“We do what we have to do because it is the best way to prepare for the final of the Champions League, and after we have the final we will take a break and find the best way to think about next season.”
