Pep Guardiola discusses Gundogan's future with Manchester City

Ilkay Gundogan has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

The 32-year-old midfielder’s contract with Manchester City expires when the season concludes in a few weeks.

The German was Pep Guardiola’s first signing when he took over the managerial role in 2016.

He will leave as a free agent and Barcelona are keen on landing this summer.

Gundogan is yet to come to an agreement over a would-be extension even though Pep Guardiola wants to keep him at the Etihad.

Declan Rice has also been a target for the Cityzens and it’s questionable whether City will agree to extend Gundogan’s contract.

“It’s not necessary today for him to perform really well, score two goals to know exactly how I like this player how I enjoy all this time working with him and how I’d like to work with him in the future,” he said.

“It’s not necessary that Gundo scores two incredible goals or how good he played today, reading the spaces. He has everything, incredible running in the final third, what a hungry midfielder, how intelligent, how good he is.”
