Bernardo Silva has gotten a new role at Manchester City.

The 27-year old midfielder usually plays on the right flank for the Cityzens but Guardiola moved him to the left at Leicester.

This resulted in an excellent link-up play with Joao Cancelo and Jack Grealish on the left and also scored the winning goal against the Foxes.

Pep Guardiola explains the reason behind Bernardo’s new position at Man City.

“I like to have at least one of the two players on the sides go with a natural side,” Guardiola said.

“When Jack Grealish played right and Gundogan played right every moment in behind is not on the proper foot, they have to turn. Every time the first action Bernardo can make a cross.

“Now before the wingers always play right foot [on the] right side and left foot [on the] left side but in the last years everyone had a tendency to play right foot on the left and left foot on the right.

“At least one of the two or three have to be on their natural foot to be more effective in the final third. They can play both sides of course, Bernardo prefers to play on the right so that can happen.”
