Pep Guardiola lays plan for Sergio Aguero

Sergio Aguero set for Man City start in FA Cup tie against Birmingham City.

City’s record goalscorer has played only nine matches in all competitions this campaign after starting the campaign with a knee injury.

Aguero’s last game was in the 1-1 draw against West Ham United on October 24 in which he was taken off due to a hamstring problem.

The Argentine striker struggled with hamstring and knee injuries in the past few months and is pushing for a return to the starting line-up in City’s FA Cup clash against Birmingham City.

“The feeling in the last ten days – two weeks, his reaction in his knee has been really good,” Guardiola told reporters.

“He is going to start and his performance and knee will dictate. We want good, quality minutes.

“It will be great to have Sergio back and in good condition. He is optimistic – he says he wants to come back and score goals. We don’t put pressure. But most of the games we need him because he is a striker.

“He had a tough injury – really tough. His mood is better than ever, this is important.”
