Pep Guadriola raves about Rodri after Manchester City’s 3-1 comeback win over Red Star Belgrade.

The Spaniard showcased another dominant display in City’s first Champions League game of the campaign.

He found the net in City’s 3-1 win over Red Star Belgrade at the Etihad Stadium.

With Ilkay Gundogan’s departure and Kevin de Bruyne’s injury, Rodri is expected to play a pivotal role this campaign.

Rodri was named UEFA’s Player of the Match for his incredible performance and Guardiola labels the Spaniard as the best midfielder in Europe.

Guardiola replied: ‘Right now, yeah. He’s the best.

‘Hopefully he can be better, he has a good mentality and things to improve but he’s an extraordinary holding midfielder.

‘We were lucky the club signed this player and when he arrived he wasn’t this type of player. Of course he played a large amount of games, now he’s one of the captains of the team.

‘He reads the spaces, knows exactly when the men are free because he loves to arrive in the final third and dribble and shoot. He’s playing really, really well.’
