Cole Palmer insists he never wanted to leave Manchester City.
Cole Palmer has made a surprise move to Stamford Bridge on Deadline Day last summer in a deal worth £40m.
The versatile attacked has arguably been Chelsea’s best player this term registering eight goals already in the Premier League.
He has become a key player under Mauricio Pochettino and his performances has been one of the few positives in Chelsea’s disastrous campaign.
The Argentine manager believes Palmer has the potential to reach the level of Real Madrid legend Angel Di Maria.
In his latest interview, Palmer revealed he wanted to go out on loan so that he could come back stronger and break into Pep’s starting lineup.
Palmer said: “My thing was to never leave City. That was not my intention. I wanted to go on loan for a year, come back and be ready for the first team. But they said I couldn’t go on loan, either stay or you get sold.
“So then, Chelsea rang me. I said I wanted to go to Chelsea and I’m really happy to be here. I’m very glad I made the decision to come here.”
