 Bet you didn’t know this one, did you? But it’s true. His mother is of Japanese descent and has ancestors leading back to those of Japanese origin. But by nationality, Silva is Spanish. He was brought into the world on January 8, 1986, in Arguineguín, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain, to Fernando Jiménez and Eva Silva. His dad, a civil cop of Spanish ancestry, was answerable for the security of the ‘Valencia CF’ arena.

 Silva is definitely one of the many talents that Spain has produced and his fellow footballers from his country make it no secret as to how much they like him. Footballing legend and former Barcelona players Andres Iniesta and Xavi have praised him profusely.

“He’s a spectacular footballer. He has been throughout his career. For the national team he has been a cornerstone of that generation of highly talented Spanish footballers. David was a vital component and absolutely essential to that team – one of the most talented players Spain has ever produced, without a shadow of a doubt,” said Andres Iniesta.

“He pulls the strings on the pitch. A brilliant footballer with great movement, he can score, assist, a player who decides a game. He’s got so much to his game, that I would consider him one of the best ever,” Xavi said about Silva.

Silva has also returned the praise for his Spain teammate Iniesta.

“The press often ask me about Messi and Ronaldo and who is the best, but one thing for me is very clear. For me, the No. 1 is Andres Iniesta, because he is my team-mate for Spain, and I can see that he is able to do even more difficult things on the pitch,” said Silva about Iniesta.

3. His Son Matteo Was Born Prematurely And Almost Died

 David Silva has a beautiful little son named Matteo, who was unfortunately born extremely prematurely in 2017. That year, Silva announced that he would take a break from Manchester City to concentrate on the health of his son and attend to his needs.

“It goes without saying that the first few months after my son was born were the toughest of my life,” said Silva.

However, if you’re worried about what happened to Matteo – you’re in for a relief! Little Matteo survived and how! He is a healthy boy now and Silva hopes that one day he might play football as well at Manchester City.

“He barely stops running,” Silva told the Manchester City official website.

“What he does now is run up and down all the time, he’s not paying great attention to the ball so far,” he said laughing.

“I’ll support him if he wants to play and hopefully it happens.

“And if it happened and at some point he wears the City shirt I’d be very proud.”

4. Silva Has Completed Ten Years At Manchester City!

 That’s right, he has completed a whole decade with the Cityzens. He moved to Manchester City from Valencia in 2010 and signed a four year contract with them. However, by 2012, the contract was extended to five years. He’s definitely one of the best midfielder City has and he still shows no signs of slowing down. With Man City so far, he has made 436 appearances, 77 goals and 141 assists.

“Why did I leave Valencia? Because the club needed me to. I was happy there and wouldn’t have left, but the situation the club was in demanded it,” he said about leaving Valencia.

Silva played his first match for City on August 14, 2010, in a match against ‘Tottenham Hotspur’ at White Hart Lane. A match against ‘Red Bull Salzburg,’ was on September 16 that year, denoted his first goal for ‘Manchester City.’ His first Premier League goal was against ‘Blackpool’ on October 17 that year.

In August 2015, he won the ‘Manchester City Player of the Month’ title and procured a designation for the ‘Premier League Player of the Month.’ The club, unexpectedly, beat their opponents, when they vanquished ‘Borussia Mönchengladbach’ 4–2 on December 8 that year, in the last group stage match of the ‘UEFA Champions League.’ The primary goal of the match was scored by Silva.

5. Silva First Started Out As A Goalkeeper

 During his youth years of playing footballer, David Silva started playing as a goalkeeper. As he continued playing, he shifted to the role of a winger and modelled his style of play around his childhood idol Michael Laudrup.
