Erling Haaland’s agent Rafaela Pimenta has welcomed the prospect of him penning a new contract at Manchester City

The Norwegian attacker joined City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer in a move costing £51 million and has had an excellent start to life in England.

Haaland has now scored 20 goals for City in all competitions in just 14 appearances, integrating into Pep Guardiola’s side easily.

There were reservations about Haaland’s ability to fit into City’s sophisticated system, with many expecting that it would take him time to acclimatise to the Premier League as a result, but his lightning quick start has utterly dispelled those.

It has also sparked conjecture about his future move, despite the fact that he is still only 22 years old. However, in an interview with Sky Sports, Pimenta stated that they would be happy to discuss new terms with City.

Haaland is under contract with City until 2027, however it is anticipated that a €200 million release clause in his current contract will kick in in 2024. 90min believes City are unconcerned about the provision, with Haaland on track to be one of the world’s top players by the end of the season.

Michael Owen believes Man City will again defend their title this season.

This season both Arsenal and Manchester City are going head-to-head for the Premier League with the former leading the table by just four points.

But many predicts Arsenal will drop down in the second half of the season and could also miss out on Champions League this campaign.

On the other hand, Manchester City are favourites to win the Premier League crown like the past few seasons.

Owen said: “Arsenal have surprised a lot of people, and I don’t think it’s a fluke.

“When you watch their performances, they’ve actually played really well. So I don’t think Arsenal are a flash in the pan at all. I think they’ll sustain it. I think they’ll have a good season.

“But I think Manchester City are different class to anyone at the moment. I think they’ve had a great start to the season. Obviously, they lost to Liverpool the other day, but they look so good in so many games. So I still think Manchester City will win the league, but I think Arsenal are here to stay.”

Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland has formed a formidable partnership at the Etihad.

The Norwegian striker has 20 goals and three assists to his name in 12 games this season already.

There were plenty of noise when it was expected that Haaland would struggle upon his arrival at the Etihad.

Even captain Kevin de Bruyne was confused with the noise surrounding the Norwegian forward.

“I don’t understand why people would say it would be difficult to score goals here,” De Bruyne told City’s website.

“I think we have an amazing team, we create a lot of opportunities for our strikers so if he’s there, he will score goals. I think he made a very good decision to come.”

He added: “He did it before. He’s a very good striker.

“I am very happy for him that he started the way that he started with us because obviously there was a lot of pressure coming here. But he’s fine, he’s very relaxed and he’s started well. He scores a lot of goals so he’s helping us to win games.”

Man City defence not good enough to compete with elite teams.

Pep Guardiola’s men tasted defeat for the first team this season losing 1-0 to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Joao Cancelo was seen making a few mistakes in that game that ultimately resulted in a Mo Salah goal.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Man City lacks defenders to compete with elite clubs in European football.

“We’ve seen in the past Pep [Guardiola] tinker around with his team. I personally do not feel that the defence that he’s got, whichever two [centre-backs] he puts out, are good enough at the highest level against the highest level to be two-on-two at the back like that,” Wright said.

“I thought you’d see Cancelo coming in and making that mistake [for Mohamed Salah’s goal]. In the Champions League you will be punished, we know that they have got Erling Haaland up top now – who will score goals out of nothing and like I say he should’ve scored today. But defensively, if they leave themselves that bare, they will be punished and we’ve seen that before.”

Declan Rice has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs.

The English midfielder has been linked with a move away from the London Stadium for a while now and could permanently leave this summer.

He is regarded as one of the best midfielders on the planet right now and a number of Premier League clubs including Man City are interested in the 23-year-old.

Club legend Sergio Aguero rates Rice in the same league as Busquets and Casemiro.

He said: “For me, he [Rice] is a great player and is at the same level as the best midfielders like [Sergio] Busquets, Rodri and Casemiro.

“It seems to me that he is valued. What happens is that with him not being in a big-six team, then he does not get talked about as much. But he has proven himself and I think he is one of the main strengths of the England team at the World Cup.”

When pressed on England’s chances, Aguero added: “I think they have a team to get excited about. They could not win the Euros, but they showed in that tournament that they are a team to be feared.”

Kevin De Bruyne tribute to Man City for winning Club of The Year award

De Bruyne pointed to the sense of belonging and special philosophy that underpins the Club’s approach to football.

Kevin De Bruyne pays special tribute to the Manchester City ‘family’ after winning Club of the Year at the 2022 Ballon d’Or awards on Monday evening.

Six of Man City players were nominated in the men’s category for Player of the Year and De Bruyne finished third. Former City star Lucy Bronze who left in the summer was also nominated in the women’s player of the year category. Our goalkeeper Ederson finished third in the race for the Yashin Trophy.

After accepting the award for Club of the Year along with team-mate Ederson, CEO Ferran Soriano and Football Director Txiki Begiristain, De Bruyne pointed to the sense of belonging and special philosophy that underpins the Club’s approach to football.

“I’ve been there eight years, I’ve come to a family who wants to play a philosophy of making people entertained,” De Bruyne declared.

“We try to play in the right way that is good for us and we try to inspire young children to lay in that way.

“It’s been exciting – we’ve won a lot. Obviously, we’ve not won the Champions League yet but I think we are proud of the way we perform as team and so we should.”

Football Director Txiki Begiristain pointed to the unique qualities of manager Pep Guardiola and the way the boss always seeks to inspire more from his players and staff.

“Pep is just brilliant. It’s a constant evolution – there is always something new almost every day,” said Begiristain.

“And it’s based on hard work and respect – to the opponents and the competitions that we play.

“Basically, he is a good guy. When we lose, he is always leading and pushing us to be better, and when we win, he shares everything with everyone – kitmen, chefs – he is a top guy.”

And for CEO Soriano, the blueprint towards City’s success was a commitment shared by everyone who works tirelessly across all departments at the Club.

“Everybody at Manchester City – from the ownership, the chairman, the board, our talented football director our amazing players men and women and everybody who works at the club – we are very thankful” said the CEO.

“We know that this comes with very hard work and we have enjoyed the ride so far but we also know that the next game is always the most challenging one.

“Winning is difficult but winning again and again is much more difficult – this is our commitment: to stay focused and keep delivering beautiful football.”

Manchester City are looking to gain the upper-hand in the race for Bellingham through Haaland.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland has ‘tried to convince Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham to join him at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola spent more than £125million bolstering his squad during the summer transfer window, but he will be given the opportunity to splash the cash once again at the turn of the year.

As per reports to The Sun, Manchester City are convinced that they will beat Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea to Bellingham’s signature.

The report adds England international will be allowed to leave Dortmund for £83million if one of his suitors are willing to pay the fee upfront during the summer transfer window next year.

But, German media outlet Bild via Sport Witness have claimed £104million may need to be forked out after the Chelsea hierarchy have already entered discussions over Bellingham.

Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United hoped to strike a deal before last month’s deadline, but Dortmund were unwilling to sanction his departure at that stage.

CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has previously told that Manchester City are looking to gain the upper-hand in the race for Bellingham through Haaland.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “I’m sure there’s no doubt that Erling Haaland has spoken to Jude Bellingham about his future and probably tried to convince him, if he does leave Dortmund, to join Manchester City.

“I think they have got a close relationship from their time together at Dortmund.”

Haaland and Bellingham made 63 appearances together at Dortmund and also provided seven goals for each other.

Bellingham’s contract will expire in three years. He has £49,000-per-week contract with Dortmund. The undesliga giants are seemingly open to parting ways in 2023.

Erling Haaland has scored 20 goals in just 13 appearances this season.

Summer signing Erling Haaland has made a huge impact in the Premier League this campaign and is expected to win the Golden Boot.

He has already bagged three assists in the Premier League this season and we are not even half way into the 2022/23 campaign.

Manager Pep Guardiola has lauded the Norwegian for his consistency and his impact on and off the ball.

Guardiola said: “I’ve been really surprised at his mentality. We knew his skills, but not how he behaves in bad moments, in the situations when he’s not involved for 20 minutes.

“He’s never out of the game, he’s always focused. It is difficult to score a goal when you don’t touch the ball, when you are not involved in the feelings, but always he has that belief and he is involved in the process.

“He is always thinking, ‘I will have a chance, I will arrive, I will have the moment, I will score a goal’. He’s never disconnected, even when not being involved much.

“Now he is involved more than in the beginning, but even when he is not involved, he is never disconnected up here. That is the most important thing.”

Joao Cancelo has been outstanding for Man City over the past two seasons.

The 28-year-old has established himself as a pivotal player for Pep Guardiola and has been regular over the last two seasons.

The Portuguese full-back has bagged two goals and five assists from 14 games already this campaign.

Arsenal legend Kevin Campbell claims Real Madrid could make a move the Man City defender within the next two summers.

Campbell he told Football Insider: “I think (he) would. I suspect Cancelo might consider leaving in the next two years, especially if they get the Champions League.

“This Man City project needs a Champions League on the sideboard and the players recognise that I’m sure. If they do it, players like Cancelo might think, ‘I’ve won everything at Man City. It’s time for a fresh challenge.’

“For Real Madrid, it would be great to get him. He would be perfect for them. Can they get him? I think it’s possible. A lot will rely on whether City can win the Champions League in my opinion.
