Erling Haaland has already scored 11 goals in the Premier League.

The Norwegian forward has arrived at the Etihad this summer and quickly established his name in the prestigious league.

In total, he has scored 14 goals in all competitions and is currently leading the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.

He will get to play his first Manchester derby this weekend and is expected to make a statement at the Etihad.

Manager Pep Guardiola explains that physios deserve a lot of credit for their work with the Norwegian forward.

“Everyone is important but I’ve always said to the club that the most important department in the backroom staff is the physios,” Guardiola said. “They take care of the legs.

“Erling struggled a lot in Dortmund last season with injuries and arrived here with little problems after a small surgery in the summer.

“He started to work here with (physiotherapist) Mario (Pafundi) and the other guys and thanks to them – and of course his work ethic – he can play regularly now. Last season it was not possible.

“When the players can play most of the time it’s thanks to the physios.”

Julian Alvarez has impressed so far at Manchester City.

The Argentine forward joined the Etihad this summer in a £14m deal and started only game for Manchester City this season.

He scored a goal in the Community Shield defeat back in August against Liverpool.

Club legend Sergio Aguero assesses the 22-year-old’s start to life at the Etihad.

“He’s [Alvarez] seriously good,” said Aguero. “He plays with more freedom up front. I’d give him freedom to roam if it was me, to get in there and cause trouble. I’d let him play free.”

But even Alvarez believes his best position is moving around the forward line.

“I’ve always played in different positions across the forward line. I can play on the wings, nearer to the middle, or roam across all three like he did. I’ve done that all my life, moving across the forward positions in attack,” Alvarez said.

“I learned a lot from being with him, he would give me a lot of advice and I wanted to take on the best aspects he had.”

Pep Guardiola will have a new leader next season in his squad.

The 20-year-old has joined Burnley on a season-long loan this summer and has worn the captain’s armband for the England U21s.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis was praised by Under-21s manager Lee Carsley who applauds his leadership qualities.

The Englishman has started every game for Vincent Kompany’s Burnley this season.

“I thought Taylor was good tonight,” the former Birmingham City man explained. “He was good in Italy as well.

“Like a lot of these young players, he has grown into being a leader. He’s getting better at that, he’s a great example in training.

“He’s a different kind of leader, in terms of he’s not a ranter and raver. When you think about, especially in the first half, some of the positions he took up and some of the balls he played, he’s very good in possession and we are very lucky to have him.”

Manuel Akanji was surprised by Man City’s offer on the deadline day.

The Swiss international moved to the Etihad Stadium on the deadline day and is expected to play some part in upcoming games.

Both Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake are injured and the former Dortmund defender could be introduced sooner.

He recently spoke about the sudden nature of his transfer.

He said: “I was in Dortmund four days before the end of the transfer window and watched Bundesliga and Premier League games on TV.

“Then came the contact with Manchester City.

“Don’t pinch, but of course it’s a huge step considering where I’m from. I am very proud of it and thankful for the support of my family and friends.”

He further states down his goal which is to give Pep Guardiola a selection headache considering the competition in the centre-back position in the City squad.

Akanji continued, “We have a lot of good players. I know that it won’t be easy.”

“I also don’t expect to play through every game for 90 minutes, but I want to make it as difficult as possible for the coach.”

Erling Haaland had a dream start to his Premier League season.

The Norwegian striker has scored 14 goals in 10 appearances for Man City across all competitions.

England captain Harry Kane who was previously linked with Man City gives his thought on the Norwegian forward and his impact in the Premier League.

Kane himself has bagged six goals in just seven Premier League matches.

“Especially in the Premier League when you’re coming up against the best strikers, it pushes every player around you to be better,” Kane explained.

“Everyone’s talking about Haaland because he’s had an incredible start to the season, so rightly so. As you know me, I don’t focus on too many other people, I focus on myself and what I can do.

“We’ve had a good start to the season with Spurs, we probably haven’t played our best football but that’s a good sign to be where we are knowing we can improve. And it’s probably one of the best starts I’ve had in the Premier League.”

Riyad Mahrez isn’t considering retiring anytime sooner.

The Algerian international has outlined his desire to retire at Manchester City after signing a contract extension this July.

There had been rumours of him joining PSG or Chelsea but the contract extension will keep him at the club until the summer of 2025.

The 31-year-old explains his aspirations to end his career in Guardiola’s side.

“I definitely want to finish my career at City and play as long as I can. I think I can still play for a long time. We’ll see what the future holds after football,” he said.

“I don’t know. I’m still thinking. I love football so it’ll be difficult to come out of it.”

“Yeah, I always wanted to be successful in football, that was my only target,” Mahrez continued.

“Some people want to be successful in a few things, for me the only thing was football. I left school at 17 and went 100% on football, I tried to give it my all and fortunately I made it.

“It wasn’t easy, it still isn’t, but you have to make a lot of sacrifices. At the end, when you do everything, it’s your destiny.”

Man City midfielder Rodri names surprising title challengers

Rodri has named Tottenham Hotspur as a surprising title challenger.

The Cityzens have secured five wins and two draws from their opening seven games in their Premier League campaign.

They are currently sitting second in the league table just one point behind league-leaders Arsenal.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are struggling for wins and have dropped points in four of their six games to date.

“Only partially [surprised],” Rodri told Gazzetta dello Sport in reply to a question about Liverpool’s start. “The Premier League level is so high that as soon as you slow down, you lose points. Liverpool are not in crisis, they are just less effective, and the Premier League does not allow you to relax.”

The Spaniard also addressed Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur who are level on points with Manchester City at the moment.

“They have put together a great squad and they have a manager who has very clear ideas and who knows how to convey them perfectly,” Rodri said.

“They know what they have to do and they do it with great precision. I see Spurs as candidates for the title. Conte’s career speaks for itself.”

Graeme Souness hit hard at Man City winger Jack Grealish for poor form

Graeme Souness hit hard at Man City winger Jack Grealish for poor form

Jack Grealish joined the Cityzens last summer for around £100m.

Graeme Souness has taken a jibe at Manchester City winger Jack Grealish who is struggling to impress this season despite City’s good form. He believes the Englishman does not deliver enough for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Liverpool legend has now taken aim at new Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, claiming his appointment is a “risk” because he “doesn’t know our game”.

The Scotsman fired on former Aston Villa winger who is part of Man City now. The 27-year-old joined the Cityzens last summer for around £100m.

Grealish has struggled to live up to expectations since moving to the Etihad, but he did get on the scoresheet against Wolves over the weekend.

Souness has spoken on Grealish’s time at Man City so far. The pundit does not think that he has improved since leaving Aston Villa last year: “Jack Grealish is a good footballer, he is not a great player,” Souness told talkSPORT.

“He is a good player who got a big move and is yet to do it at Man City. I go back to his days at Aston Villa where I think they were in the Premier League for two years and in both years he was the most fouled player in the Premier League.

“I see that two ways, I see it that you are having too many touches if you are the most fouled player and the reason you’re the most fouled player is that you’re not seeing the picture quick enough.

“I understand why people think that he is better than what he actually is, because he runs with the ball, he gets you on the edge of your seat but he doesn’t deliver enough. He doesn’t see the picture, the right picture, and he doesn’t deliver it quick enough.

“I think if he was being a star every weekend then we would not be having this type of conversation about him. I was willing to cut him some slack because there is some genuine ball-playing dribbling talent there.

“I thought he would go to City, every day in training be asked to do it quicker, he would be asked to deliver on what he sees quicker, and it has not happened for him. I see the same Jack Grealish today as I saw at Aston Villa a couple of years ago.”

Pep Guardiola gives a seal of approval to Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

The 43-year-old will take over as the manager of Brighton after Graham Potter took the head coach role at Chelsea.

Brighton owner Tony Bloom believes both coach and the club believe their qualities and vision align.

Pep Guardiola has spoken to De Zerbi about his recent move to the Seagulls.

“Brighton strongly wanted me as a coach, and their style of play is very similar to my idea of football,” said De Zerbi.

“We met each other straight after we had started to talk. Of course, other teams were interested in me but I’m delighted to be here. I think we’re on the same wavelength and I’m sure we can do it well.

“I spoke to Pep on Sunday evening, yes. He’s very happy that I’m on board here. He told me very good things about the club. And he told me that if I need he will be very happy to help me – but of course, not in the match we are playing against them!
