Nathan Ake, a defender for Manchester City, will miss Saturday’s FA Cup semifinal match against Sheffield United due to a hamstring injury, according to coach Pep Guardiola
During the second half of City’s Champions League quarterfinal match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, the in-form Netherlands international was substituted. The 28-year-old will at least be out for a short period of time while the club determines the full scope of the issue.
He’s not ready for tomorrow, but I don’t know the damage, Guardiola said during a news conference on Friday. His team plays Arsenal next Wednesday in a key Premier League matchup for first place. They conduct the final examination today to determine his exact condition.
Phil Foden returned to the team in the middle of the week after missing time due to an appendix procedure, but he didn’t play as City advanced to the Champions League semifinals at the Allianz Arena.
After two practises, “he was on the bench,” stated Guardiola. As time goes on, he will get better.
Before making any changes for the Blades match at Wembley, Guardiola will evaluate his team following their efforts in Germany, where City earned a 1-1 draw to advance 4-1 on aggregate.
