Rico Lewis has been absolute brilliant for Man City this season.
The young defender made his first breakthrough in the City team as a right-back last season and was brilliant in Man City’s 3-1 win over RB Leipzig.
Phil Foden and Rico Lewis combined for City’s opening goal on that night as the latter started alongside Rodri at the heart of midfield.
Lewis recently signed a long-term contract with the Premier League champions and is expected to take more responsibility further into the season.
Foden was full of praise for the 18-year-old academy graduate and regarded him as one of the best young players in today’s time.
Foden told the media: “He’s one of the best young players I’ve seen. He seems to up our tempo when he’s dead sharp in the pockets and makes us play a bit quicker. He had a good game – two academy players linking for the goal is nice to see.
“Normally when you’re 18 you’re a bit shy in these big games. He’s the total opposite. He wants the ball, wants to impress. I like his determination. He’s going to be a quality player, he just needs the game time.”
