Bernardo Silva Is A Manger’s Dream

Bernardo Silva Is A Manger's Dream

Michael Brown has praised Bernardo Silva for his work ethic.

Silva has scored twice and laid out two assists in his last 6 appearances.

He did hit a lull in form earlier on in the campaign but he seems to be back to his best. The Portuguese international’s wide range of technical skills allow him to feature almost anywhere on the pitch. On Friday, he took on a deep-midfield role next to Rodri and helped City to a 3-0 win.

“I think Bernardo has been exceptional,” Brown said. “What I love most is, his creative ability is there for all to see, but his unselfishness with the way he tracks back, the way he tackles and the energy he puts in.

“He doesn’t seem to make any fuss. He just seems to get on with his job. I think he is one of those you would want in your team all day long. A manager’s dream probably.”

Even Riyad Mahrez has struck a rich vein of form, scoring three times in his last three outings.

“They’re both outstanding footballers,” he added. “With them both being left footed-they can probably easily change positions too. When you’re playing against a low centre of gravity player and they twist and they turn to get away from you, it’s a nightmare to play against it.

“These two are the best at it in the Premier League – left footers that can come inside – they’re outstanding.”

Sergio Aguero Heading To Barcelona This Summer

Sergio Aguero Heading To Barcelona This Summer

Sergio Aguero could be heading to Barcelona, according to Pablo Zabaleta.

Manchester City’s agreement with the striker ends in June and there has been no movement over an extension.

Aguero came on to feature in the Premier League win over Fulham, wrapping up the night with a goal from the penalty spot. Pep Guardiola has maintained that the forward still holds an important place in his squad. After all, he is City’s record goalscorer.

Barcelona are reportedly targeting strikers and a free transfer for Aguero would be a steal. He is still only 32 years with the potential to give at least a few more seasons at top level. After Luis Suarez’s departure, Ronald Koeman has been calling out for a striker signing.

Aguero’s former teammate, Pablo Zabaleta believes the forward is destined to land up at Camp Nou. He said, “If you ask me what I think will happen, for me it is very difficult to imagine Messi outside Barcelona. We all hope that he will retire there.

“They have had elections and now there is a new president. It is clear that he (Joan Laporta) wants to convince Messi to stay. And one of the main reasons they can give Messi to stay is to sign Agüero, his best friend.”

Fulham Pressure Proves They Should Be Higher Up – John Stones

Fulham Pressure Proves They Should Be Higher Up - John Stones

Manchester City were taken back by how good Fulham played against them.

Pep Guardiola’s men did run away 3-0 winners from Craven Cottage but the hosts held them goalless the entire first half.

The Cottagers even came close to scoring themselves, making City work for the win. If it was not for their defensive errors, Fulham could have collected a point on the night.

First John Stones broke the deadlock from a Joao Canceloa free-kick, then Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero drove City home. Stones said, “Really difficult game.

“Give a lot of credit to Fulham. The way they play their football doesn’t really reflect where they are in the table.

“They’re a strong opposition and they made it hard for us in the first half. It was hard to find space in the pockets and in behind. We corrected a few things and it was great to get three points again and another clean sheet.”

City are now 17 points ahead at the top of the Premier League with a second leg against Borussia Monchengladbach coming up. The fans will want to see a deeper run in the Champions League now that the league is pretty much wrapped up.

Guardiola – England Should Recall John Stones

Guardiola - England Should Recall John Stones

John Stones has been exceptional this season.

The forgotten centre-back has put up fitting displays to remind fans of his true talents this season.

He got on the scoresheet once again for Manchester City last night, breaking the deadlock in the second half off of Joao Cancelo’s free-kick. He was voted the Man of the Match after putting out a number of Fulham’s chances.

“He deserves it,” said Guardiola. “Of course Gareth Southgate knows better than me what he needs, but I would be delighted and happy if he is back in the national team.

“Another great performance. The goal was so important. The way he played, I am so happy.”

It is not a coincidence that Manchester City’s winning run and their string of cleansheets have come with John Stones manning their backline. With the support of Ruben Dias, the Cityzens have now created a 17-point gap between them and Manchester United.

Nobody has any doubt that City will lift another Premier League title this season but fans are hoping for more. Majority of the squad is fit and healthy and firing on all cylinders. Stones is one of the many brilliant performers in the side that has made them the league leaders once again this season.

Pep Guardiola has praised brave managers like Scott Parker and Graham Potter who try to play his way with teams with lesser qualities.

“Since day one, they have Fulham have played incredibly well,” Guardiola told his pre-match press conference.

“They were relegated with Scott at the end of the season and after that, they were promoted.

“In English football, there are incredibly good managers such as Graham Potter at Brighton and Scott at Fulham.

“Many of them have courage to play. In my fifth season in England, I have never seen the lower teams with this quality of play.

“We saw it with Southampton. The way they play is incredible. I saw it here with Fulham earlier this season.

“The pace they play with, the organisation – a real tough, tough opponent.

“Even the games when they didn’t have success with the results, like Brighton, always the way they played us positively. It’s a challenge for us on Saturday.”

Managers are always the ones blamed if the team plays bad and hence for the bosses of Fulham and Brighton to try to bring in classy football with massey players deserves special respect and massive encouragement.

Gundogan said: “I am very proud to win this award again – but I am most proud of being part of this amazing team.

“To win all our games in February, like we did in January, is amazing. I get the sense we are playing really good football and being part of that makes me happy. Hopefully we can continue like this because, ultimately, winning trophies is what matters. I know all the squad want that to happen and we will try our best from now until the end of the season.”

Scott Parker hailed Guardiola as one of the best coaches he ever witnessed.

Man City’s recent defeat to noisy neighbours Manchester United ended their 21-game winning streak in all competitions.

Guardiola in a recent interview downplayed his achievements and believes his success is all due to the extraordinary players he possesses.

The Cityzens face Fulham away on Saturday and manager Scott Parker heaped praises on Pep Guardiola.

“There’s some truth in that (Guardiola’s comments) but I think he’s being very modest,” Parker said.

“He’s an incredible coach, and you only have to look at his team and his set-up, while of course they have very, very good players and they’re privileged in that they can buy them, that team and the way they’re set up, the way they play, the way they move the ball, just everything about them, you can tell just watching them for a few minutes that this a team coached very, very well.

“That doesn’t surprise us because we’re arguably looking at one of the best coaches that I’ve seen.”

“You can’t (switch off against City), their quality all over the pitch in terms of structure, their positional play…they’re a threat in every single moment of the game.

Riyad Mahrez best winger in Europe claims former City star

Andy Morrison claims Mahrez is the best winger in European football based on his current form.

The Algerian winger scored 10 goals for the Cityzens this season.

He reached 51 left-footed goals in the Premier League and became the seventh player to score 50 or more in the league’s history.

The 30-year old is closing in on his third Premier League title this season having previously won it with Leicester in 2015-16 and 2018-19 with City.

Morrison said: “He’s been an outstanding player over the past few months and been the most predominant to stay in the team.

“Yes, Pep rotates the team, but he has stayed.

“His first goal came from Che Adams’ mistake, but there was still so much to do -you still need incredible technique and quality to be able to do what he does.

“Mahrez is an absolute pleasure to watch and in those areas I don’t think there’s anyone better in the Premier League in one-on-one situations, he rips you to bits.

“You know where he’s going to go but when somebody’s that good and the disguise is that good, you can’t stop it. As I say, he’s a pleasure to watch at the moment.”

Sergio Aguero’s future looks uncertain claims Guardiola

Sergio Aguero is nearing the final few months of his contract.

City’s all-time record goalscorer is approaching the end of his contract and the club is yet to offer a fresh contract to the 32-year old striker.

Aguero had been nibbling with injuries during the initial part of the campaign and a coronavirus diagnosis at the start of this year delayed his return to the Etihad.

He made only three starts this campaign and his participation in the next few games will decide on his future claims Guardiola.

“For the human being, as a person, as what is, even as a player, of course,” Guardiola said.

“But we have to see what happens at the end of the season. We cannot forget how long he was out. Now we start to get him better. I know he needs minutes to get to his best condition but we are not maybe in the moment that you can give minutes [for the sake of giving] minutes.

“So we are going to speak, I think the club will speak with his agent and know the situation, and we are going to talk at the end of the season, like with Fernandinho, for example, it’s the same situation.”

Man City was denied a penalty by VAR in Southampton’s 5-2 win.

Phil Foden was taken down by Saints goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and VAR decided not to award a penalty.

City later extended their lead to 14 points in the Premier League table, thanks to both Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez scoring a brace.

“There are things that are hard to understand,” said Pep Guardiola, who also highlighted some other recent VAR controversies involving other clubs.

“So maybe one day they can explain the rules about the VAR. Hopefully one day they can explain what is going on.

“Jon, the referee, OK he cannot see it, the linesman cannot see it, (but if) the VAR cannot see it – Oh my God.

“You just want it to be more clear, and the right decisions. We won 5-2 but if we’d lost 5-2 I don’t make any comment. After you win you can do it, if not it looks like an excuse.”
