Manchester City are looking at five potential signings to freshen up their squad ranks this 2023.

Pep Guardiola is reportedly keen on adding Jude Bellingham, Rafael Leao, Josko Gvardiol, and more.

How he will fit all of them in the same team is a different question altogether. Maybe it is an either-or situation. Manchester City do need a backup striker, one who is capable of taking the scoring pressure off of Erling Haaland. Watch & Bet Here =>

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, a breakout star for Napoli this season and a vital player, is apparently of interest to the Premier League Champions.

It is not surprising that teams are interested in the Georgian international given his fantastic form, and according to the Daily Mail City, teams are at the very least keeping an eye on the status of the 21-year-old.

Given the presence of Jack Grealish and Phil Foden in addition to Kvaratskhelia on the left flank, City may have one too many players on that side of the field.

Houssem Aouar might be on the radar of Man City boss Pep Guardiola. If Man City fails to sign Bellingham in 2023, they can go for this midfielder. Phillips was brought in this summer to replace Fernandinho but has struggled with injuries so far.

Bernardo Silva had poor outings and he is expected to leave the club in 2023. Ilkay Gundogan’s contract will also end in 2023 so it would be important to find a better replacement in Houssem Aouar.

Guardiola is already a big fan of Houssem Aouar who has been one of Ligue 1’s best players for years now. The Frenchman made over 200 appearances for Lyon, scoring 40 goals and providing 35 assists. He has had several great displays in the Champions League.

“Houssem Aouar is a very good player, he is incredible,” Guardiola said of Aouar back in 2018.

According to sources, it would cost any team €120 million to capture the midfielder from RB Leipzig, therefore Manchester City will have to compete with Chelsea and Real Madrid for his services.

The 23-year-old, who in the summer agreed to a one-year extension with Leipzig that would keep him at the club until 2027, is reportedly a target for both Premier League teams, especially in light of his exceptional World Cup exploits for his nation in Qatar.

The center-back is rumoured to be interested in leaving the German team, with Alfredo Pedulla adding that Madrid has met with Leipzig twice recently and is willing to offer €120 million.

Rafael Leao is allegedly open to signing a deal with Manchester City worth £200,000 per week in an effort to lure him to the Etihad Stadium during the January transfer window.

The Sun quotes Italian source as saying that the Serie A star is about to receive an enticing offer from City that would see him earn more than £10 million annually. The Portuguese international, who will only have one year remaining on his contract come the summer, has been heavily projected to join the Blues.

The article claims that AC Milan are reportedly scrambling to convince Leao to agree to a new contract but are unable to compete with City’s financial might. In 20 appearances in all competitions this season, the 23-year-old has scored seven goals and contributed nine assists, quickly emerging as one of Europe’s most sought-after prospects.

Manchester City could bring in Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window. It has also been added that the Cityzens would have to offer north of £100 million if they want to get his signature in the next transfer window.

Bellingham had a terrific campaign at the German club in his previous campaign as he was responsible for putting in several influential displays at the centre of their midfield. The 19-year-old has been prolific in the midfield areas. He excels at holding on to the ball and distributing possession to his teammates. The Dortmund star is heavily linked with top clubs this season.

Dortmund will only be convinced if they receive a befitting offer for their young prospect and such an astronomical asking price would be difficult for any club to offer at the moment. Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland has ‘tried to convince Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham to join him at the Etihad Stadium.

Champions of the Premier League Manchester City is competing to recruit one of Southampton’s most promising young players

The trend in academy transfers between City and Southampton in recent months has been more frequently in the direction of transfers to the south coast than the other way around. Most recently, Jason Wilcox, the director of Manchester City’s academy, announced that, after the current season, he would join Southampton’s first team in a more senior capacity.

Gavin Bazunu, Juan Larios, Romeo Lavia, and Samuel Edozie all successfully left Manchester City’s famed academy conveyor belt for right away first-team opportunities at Saint Mary’s, prompting that choice. The Premier League winners, who have greatly improved their track record of giving academy talents first-team opportunities, may now attempt to recruit one of Southampton’s most promising young players, according to a recent report.

According to Sky Sports, Jimmy-Jay Morgan, a star in the Southampton academy, has informed the team that he wants to go after turning down their offer of a first-ever professional deal at Saint Mary’s. As a result, the academy programmes at Manchester City, Arsenal, and Leeds United are currently “assessing” whether to recruit the 17-year-old, who also represents England at the young level and frequently trains with the Southampton first-team squad.

Because of his early skill, Morgan has already earned a spot on the substitutes’ bench for this season’s Carabao Cup matches against Manchester City and Sheffield Wednesday as well as the FA Cup third-round match against Crystal Palace. Jimmy-Jay Morgan, who is most frequently used as a winger but can also play at striker, has scored four goals in eight Premier League 2 games for Southampton B this season and six goals in eight games for England’s under-17 team.

If Morgan decides to narrow his options to the three current suitors, Manchester City’s stellar track record of producing promising attacking players within their academy system may influence his choice. Adedire Mebude and Carlos Borges, two Portuguese forwards, are dominating youth tournaments this season alone, securing frequent appearances in Pep Guardiola’s first-team training sessions.

Erling Haaland scored yet another hat trick last night against Wolves.

The Norwegian has hit his fourth Premier League hattrick of the season taking his tally to 25 goals this campaign.

Pep Guardiola blasted his squad after their 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur last week.

Haaland now has more Premier League hat-tricks than Cristiano Ronaldo and is still far away from Sergio Aguero’s record tally of 12.

He has now bagged 31 goals  in all competitions and is the quickest player to bag these hattricks in just 19 games.

Guardiola said: “When he scores I don’t know how many hat-tricks and goals, (people say) he is the solution in our team and when he does not score a goal he is a problem in our team. This is a grey vision of this kind of things.

“We know his quality, we know each other. He is not a player to be dropped. We cannot play a false nine with him, we have to adapt with him and I think we are doing quite well.”

Man City has no chance of stopping Arsenal with current form

Man City are five points behind Arsenal in the league table.

Pep Guardiola is frustrated with his squad’s recent form in the Premier League after they dropped eight points in their last six league games.

He believes that the team has no chance of winning the top flight if they don’t improve their game.

He demands improvements from his team if they are to win another Premier League title.

“It’s not about that,” he told reporters. “[Even if] they lose against United, if we play this way we are not going to win, we aren’t going to catch them. We have to change ourselves.

“Listen, we are second in the table,” he added. “We are not 25 points behind Arsenal, still we are there. It is 57 points still to play.”

Pep Guardiola was further asked whether City stands a chance to win the league title this season.

“In this way, no chance.

“We have the FA Cup, we have the Champions League and next season but the club has to react.”

Pep Guardiola not impressed with players and fans in general.

Man City came from two goals down to beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium.

They are currently second in the Premier League standings five points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Manager Pep Guardiola further highlighted the difference in quality between his team and Arsenal.

“I cannot deny how happy we are, but we are far away from the team that we were,” Guardiola told Sky Sports. “Not in terms of play, we played good enough but there are many things like competitiveness, in terms of what we have to do in many things that we are far away.

He also questioned the atmosphere among the fans as they were seen booing at halftime.

“It’s the same with our fans, they are silent for 45 minutes. They booed because we were losing, not because we played badly. We played good, we had more chances, expected goals from Tottenham is 0.89 so we were better.

“I want my fans back, I want my fans here. Not my away fans, they are the best, but my fans here [at the Etihad]. The support for every corner and every action and support it. We have to do it, but everyone is relaxed.

Ilkay Gundogan has been rumoured to move to Barcelona

Ilkay Gundogan, a midfielder for Manchester City, has been linked to a summer transfer to Barcelona, a powerhouse in La Liga

Due to their well-known financial difficulties, the Spanish club is reportedly searching the market for players whose contracts are about to expire.

The 32-year-contract old’s with City expires at the end of June, and he is free to negotiate a pre-contract deal with international teams.

The international player from Germany moved to City in 2016 from Borussia Dortmund and has been crucial to the team’s recent success. Although he is older, Gundogan’s playing style would be perfect for Barcelona, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see them step up their efforts to recruit him.

When the moment is right, City is not opposed to moving players on, and it may decide to consider younger alternatives to Gundogan. Jude Bellingham, a standout for Borussia Dortmund, has been mentioned as a potential addition, but Liverpool are apparently leading the chase for his talents.

Another choice is Declan Rice, however it’s questionable whether City will agree to West Ham United’s extravagant demands. Matheus Nunes, a midfielder for Wolverhampton Wanderers, might be a more practical goal for City. The international player from Portugal moved to the Midlands outfit from Sporting Lisbon last summer, and he has given the team some standout displays.

Guardiola admits City must find a way to get Haaland more involved in their play

Didi Hamaan admitted City “were a better team without Haaland, even if he scores 40 goals this season”.

Pep Guardiola has admitted Manchester City must find a way to get Erling Haaland more involved in their play.

Manchester City dropped three important points against Manchester United as they lost 2-1 at Old Trafford. The Norway international was a peripheral figure in Saturday’s loss, having only a couple of half-chances and just 19 touches in the match.

The leading goal-scorer of the season has now gone three games without a goal. He was only a second-half substitute at Southampton. He netted 27 goals before in just 21 outings.

Former City midfielder Didi Hamaan used social media on Saturday to claim City “were a better team without Haaland, even if he scores 40 goals this season”.

Guardiola is unlikely to agree with that but he is still working to fully integrate his summer signing.

“At the moment we have that process because when teams are sat in their 18-yard box, it is more difficult but we have to find him a little bit more, yes,” Guardiola said.

“He had enough touches but it’s true that when you are looking at areas and you have to look at him. But we will do it.”

The Sky Blues have struggled for consistency this season since the resumption of league football. They played a draw against Everton on New Year’s Day and now suffered back-to-back defeats against Southampton in the League Cup and United in the Premier League.

However, Guardiola said the such inconsistencies were not down to the change in system that Haaland’s arrival has enforced.

“I would say the inconsistency was in terms of results but not performances,” he said. “In general, (but) not against Southampton, we were consistent in our games.

“Of course, against Everton we played better, but they had one shot on target and we drew. They punished you when before it didn’t happen, we always found a way to get the results.

“If we play good or bad, we always had that chance. I think this is our strength and we have to improve but in terms of performance, I think we are consistent.”

City took the lead at Old Trafford but crumbled after Bruno Fernandes’ controversial equaliser, allowing Marcus Rashford to score what proved to be the winner only four minutes later.

“We were there all the time, I could recognise my team,” he said. “That is all I can say. At Southampton…what is this? What is this team? But this was the opposite. I recognise my team from many, many years.”

After letting a lead slip and losing 2-1 at Old Trafford, Manchester City was furious at Manchester United’s contentious equaliser for allowing their neighbours to enter the title fight

In a thrilling derby on Saturday, arguments broke out after Bruno Fernandes overturned Jack Grealish’s early goal in the 78th minute. After Marcus Rashford added a late winner, City’s irritation level increased.

City players voiced their displeasure and demanded that officials see replays of the crucial moment. The PA news agency has been informed that there were yells after the final horn and after the players had left the field.

After Rashford appeared to sprint on to Casemiro’s through ball and was in an offside position during the buildup to Fernandes’ goal, controversy broke up.

Although Rashford did not touch the ball before allowing Fernandes to shoot, referee Stuart Atwell nonetheless awarded the goal after speaking with assistant Darren Cann and concluding that Rashford had not interfered with play.

Rashford’s run, according to Guardiola, had a noticeable effect on Akanji and Ederson’s responses. After the Carabao Cup loss at Southampton in midweek, City suffered a second straight loss, although Guardiola was happy with this performance.

Defender for Manchester City have three clubs interested in signing him this month, Finley Burns is the centre of interest in the Championship’s transfer activity

The 19-year-old defender has participated in every game for Manchester City’s academy teams this season, making 19 appearances in the Premier League 2, UEFA Youth League, and EFL Trophy.

Along with several of his youth teammates, Burns earned his senior Manchester City debut under Pep Guardiola last year during a 6-1 Carabao Cup victory over Wycombe Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium.

After reaching that professional milestone, he moved on loan to Swansea City for the second half of the season, where he made three appearances for manager Russell Martin. In a move identical to the one sanctioned by the Premier League winners during the most recent January transfer window, it now appears that Manchester City are interested in the possibility of Burns moving to the second tier of English football to complete his development.

Following the conclusion of two loan agreements to Coventry during the previous summer’s transfer window, and most recently this week, city officials do have a relationship with the latter.

Josh Wilson-Esbrand signed a loan agreement with Coventry City that will last until the conclusion of the current campaign, showing once again how much Manchester City trusts the Championship team to help one of their most potential academy players develop.

Pep Guardiola stresses his confidence on Kalvin Phillips at Etihad

Pep Guardiola stresses his confidence on Kalvin Phillips at Etihad

Guardiola said Phillips has to fight with Rodri, for the benefit of all of us.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola has stressed his confidence that Kalvin Phillips will settle perfectly at City as he urged the midfielder to fight with Rodri for a place in the team.

Phillips could make his first start since joining from Leeds last summer in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final at Southampton.

The England international underwent shoulder surgery in September. He only made four substitute appearances prior to the World Cup.

Guardiola on Tuesday declared Phillips’ readiness to start, and said: “I am pretty sure he would be frustrated, when you come and cannot play.

“But the shoulder was the main thing, after surgery he came back perfectly, and now he feels fine, so it’s just now a question of time, minutes, and with the amount of games we have, we are going to use him.

“We saw the attributes he has (before signing him) and we decide to do it, with the fact Fernandinho announced he was going back to Brazil and we need one player to help Rodri in this position.

“In duels especially he understands where the ball is coming, he’s strong in the air, when there’s tempo he has the quality to break lines. He has to improve the reception from central defenders, but this is going to be a question of time because at Leeds he moved, always had the quality to do it.

“He’s a national team player and when England reached the (Euros) final (in 2021), with Declan Rice, they both played amazingly. He has the mentality to have been training with Marcelo (Bielsa, the former Leeds manager), the resilience and fight.

“So many attributes (to make me) believe he could settle perfectly with us, and I’m convinced it’s going to happen.”

He added: “We need Kalvin, I said from day one. When he didn’t train (or take part in) the first game after the World Cup, it was ‘I don’t want you to get injured when you are not fit’. You are more at risk.

“So it’s better to (stay away) a few days, come back step by step, and when you are fit or in condition to train, go. This is what happened, after two or three days, the weight was perfect and he was training again.

“I said many times, if you are not ready here (touching his head) for the training, take a day off, no problem. The moment you are there, be focused. But if you don’t feel good, for many reasons, personal issues, physical conditions, no problem.”

Regarding competition for places, Guardiola said Phillips “has to fight with Rodri, for the benefit of all of us”, adding: “Rodri cannot sleep, and have the feeling there is someone close to him to do it. He has to.

“It depends on him, how he’s able to fight with Rodri. That’s why the big clubs have to have these kind of feelings, the competition.”

Guardiola also emphasised Phillips and Spain international Rodri “can play together, especially when you play with two holding midfielders”.

Guardiola made seven changes to his starting line-up for Sunday’s match, and said tiredness had been a key factor.
