Ferran Torres has been officially presented as an FC Barcelona player on Monday, after his move from Manchester City. After this move, some interesting details about the deal have come to light.

Football expert, Fabrizio Romano claims that a ‘first refusal’ clause has been put into Torres’ contract, which gives City an option to match any bids for Torres from potential competitors if Barca intends to sell him in the future.

The ever-reliable Lu Martin on the Què T’hi Jugues radio channel revealed certain complications faced by Catalan giants in concluding the deal.

As per the details of Lu Martin, Barcelona wanted to include a clause in the Torres deal which could see him move back to City at the end of January if Barca failed to register him into their squad, with the clubs to retry a deal in the summer.

The Premier Club refused to allow such a possibility, with club CEO Ferran Soriano telling Barcelona that the 21-year-old forward would be their business following the conclusion of the deal.

Lu Martin also reported that Barca owed Manchester City (roughly) €1.5million for the transfer of Denis Suarez, a transfer that took place in the summer of 2013.

The Cityzens would like to make a long-term replacement for veteran Fernandinho and Declan Rice could be a viable replacement.

The 22-year old Hammers midfielder has been heavily linked with Manchester United but Liverpool legend Graeme Souness believes Rice would be an ideal match for their neighbours Manchester City.

“Jack Grealish’s transfer from Aston Villa to Manchester City for £100m means that’s where the bidding is likely to start for Rice, who’s four years younger at 22,” Souness told The Times.

“City already have the strongest group of players in the history of English football, but still collect the best players they can.

“Yes, they have Rodri, but Fernandinho’s 36 and in the final six months of his contract, so Rice is an obvious replacement because they have the finances and are buying when they are on top.

“City, Chelsea and United will all pay a premium for Rice. The only argument you can offer if you’re buying is that he’s not a striker and that’s where the big money generally goes. It might take Rice to another level.”

Guardiola’s side won their 11th Premier League win in a row to extend the lead of 11 points at the top.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is happy after the club’s impressive comeback win over Gunners in the New-Year clash. They were 1-0 down at the break and Mahrez scored in the 57th minute to equalise for the City.

The match was going towards a 1-1 draw but Rodrigo fired home from close range to claim another three points. City have now extended their lead at the top of the table to 11 points.

It was Manchester City’s 11th Premier League win in a row and they haven’t dropped a single point in the last 9 weeks.

Guardiola said, “(Winning) 11 games in a row is so great in this period.

“Just take a look at our bench today, it was four guys from the Academy.

“This period today we were incredibly tired, mentally and physically. Arsenal were better today, but football happens in these situations, sometimes it comes on our side.

“We are not a team to (normally) score goals in extra time. I don’t remember the last time we scored a goal after 90 minutes!

“Maybe two or three years ago when Raheem put the ball in the net against Southampton.

“We’re not a team with this characteristic but of course with 10 v 11 they changed with five at the back and tried to win the game.

“Arsenal were better, we faced a team in the last years who struggled to be in the top four and started the season at the bottom, but they are in the top four now and had six or seven days from last game.

“We had two and a half, we came back and didn’t have energy. That’s why we tried to put one more in the middle to have control and more passes.”

Guardiola also added, “Football, we try to analyse many things, but it can be like a coin. Sometimes it’s on your side, sometimes it’s not.

“That’s the reality, but at the same time we know how much it means to win here at the Emirates against Arsenal, the moment they’re in.

“We knew it was difficult and now we have time to rest.”

“At Man City I’ve grown not only as a player but besides that I’ve grown as a person as well. I’m much stronger as I face my new challenges as a professional player. Also knowing that I was really privileged and lucky to represent the shirt of this great club.

“Besides all the great experiences, in winning the Premier League and also the Carabao Cup and of course competing in the final of the Champions League, I take something much more important with me, a really great relationship with you all, the loyal Man City fans.

“I would like to thank Pep Guardiola, Ferran Soriano, [City CEO] Txiki [Begiristain], and [Chief Football Operations Officer] Omar [Berrada] that they gave me this great opportunity to become part of this great team. Personally I feel humble and thankful for the confidence that I was included in this great, world-renowned set-up.

“Above and beyond all that I also want to thank my teammates and all the members of staff at Manchester City.

“I’m now returning to Spain. But I carry you all in my heart forever and I’ll still celebrate your wins together, week in week out.
