Man City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne strongly feels that the Cityzen’s attack game needs to be made better.

The Spurs won over the Cityzens by 2-0, making City lose for the second time in this campaign.

“I think we played well but missed that cutting edge,” said De Bruyne.

“We kept to Tottenham to three or four chances – that’s quite good – but if you’re not sharp enough in front of goal, it’s tough.

“It’s been up and down for us with the players coming in and going out.

“It’s hard for players coming back from injury to be sharp straight away.

“We’re doing quite well in the first two thirds, but not as good in the last third but that will come.

“It’s been difficult finding consistency. We need to be a bit sharper, but as I say, hopefully that will come soon.”

Moreover, De Bruyne was also furious with referee Mike Dean after Aymeric Laporte’s first-half equaliser was denied.

“I don’t know the rules anymore, honestly,” he said.

“I thought if it was above the arm (top of sleeve) – it wasn’t handball. Everyone knows it hit him there, but honestly I don’t know the rules.

“But it will be analysed and referees will say it was a good decision.

“I’ve been playing professional football for 12 years and in the first nine years there were no rule changes and now there a lots.

“I don’t know why – football is a nice game.

Manchester City suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.

Pep Guardiola reflected how his side failed to break the Spurs’ defence even though they had 67 per cent of the possession while outshooting their opponents 22-4.

An early lead by Son Heung-min within five minutes and a Lo Celso goal in the second half sealed the game for Jose Mourinho’s side.

“It could be better, we played similar to how have all season. We did not defend good for the first goal. They then defended so deep, they defended with six and it was not easy,” Guardiola told BBC Match of the Day.

“We had our chances, but we couldn’t score and they made two or three chances on the counterattack and we lost the game.

“We knew before the game that you cannot give them the first goal. We had more chances than them but we lost. Mourinho’s teams are like this, you make a mistake and they punish you on the counterattack.

“It is not easy, Harry Kane and Ndombele are on halfway, the space is so difficult, our possession play was good, but football is the boxes and that is where we were not good.”

Pep Guardiola Hits Back At Mourinho – Is He A Doctor?

Pep Guardiola Hits Back At Mourinho - Is He A Doctor

Jose Mourinho is back to riling up Premier League managers and this time its Pep Guardiola.

Tottenham Hotspur are due to host Manchester City on Saturday night.

Mourinho hit out at City for recalling Raheem Sterling early from international duty. The forward was excused due to a small injury, something that the Spurs boss has refused to believe.

Guardiola responded, “Mourinho has to speak to the doctor for the national team of England and the doctor for Manchester City. He has to go to the doctors of the national team and Manchester City. Except maybe Mourinho is a doctor, I don’t know.”

Both managers have a history in La Liga where Guardiola has the better record against the Portuguese. Still, the rivalry has continued over the years and we are seeing that right now in England.

Mourinho also insinuated that City players go down far too easily to win fouls. Guardiola replied,  “Listen, I’m not going to answer anything about Jose. I said about the doctor, because he accused us of something we’ve done that is not true.

“You have to speak to the doctors about these other things, don’t ask me. I’m almost 50. I’m old enough to understand.”

Guardiola wants Messi to finish his career at the Camp Nou.

Pep Guardiola recently signed a two-year contract with the Cityzens and was immediately linked to his former star player at Barcelona.

Messi has entered the final year of his contract and will probably leave the Catalan club by next summer.

There were rumours of the Argentine reuniting with his former boss, Pep Guardiola, at the Etihad but Guardiola himself wants to see Messi finish his career at the Camp Nou.

He said: “Lionel Messi is a Barcelona player. If you want my opinion, as a person, I have huge gratitude for Barcelona and what they have done for me. In the academy, as a player and a manager, they gave me absolutely everything.

“I want him to finish his career there. That is what I want. I said it a thousand times. As a Barcelona fan I want Leo to finish there.

“But his contract finishes this year and I don’t know what will happen in his mind. Right now he is a Barcelona player and the transfer market is in June and July. We have incredible games and targets and things we would like to achieve. That is the only thing in our mind. The rest I cannot say anything.”

Pep Guardiola has extended his contract at Manchester City.

The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss has extended his stay by another two years. He has made history now with City. While in charge of both Bayern and Barcelona, Pep stayed in charge for four years each but his next year here at Etihad will take him to six years at City!

Guardiola has expressed his gratitude to City ownership and also spoke about his pride and unfinished adventure in the Premier League.

And Guardiola spoke of his delight at signing the deal, saying: “Ever since I arrived at Manchester City I have been made to feel so welcome in the Club and in the city itself- from the players, the staff, the supporters, the people of Manchester and the Chairman and Owner.  Since then we have achieved a great deal together, scored goals, won games and trophies, and we are all very proud of that success.”

City have won two league titles, three domestic cups under Pep in three seasons and will now want to take the next step to win the Champions League as well.

It remains to be seen as well if Messi is coming to the Etihad in 2021.

Manchester City talks about why they wanted Pep at the helm

Manchester City have extended the contract of their manager Pep Guardiola.

And now they have explained why.

Confirming the news, Chairman Khaldoon Mubarak said: “It is testament to the qualities of the man that Pep Guardiola’s passion and intelligent approach are now woven into the very fabric of the football we play and our culture as Club.  That impact has been central to our success during his tenure and it is why I am delighted that he shares our view that there is so much more to be achieved both on and off the field.

“Pep’s contract extension is the natural next step in a journey which has evolved over many years.  It is a product of the mutual trust and respect that exists between him and the entire Club.  It also goes to the stability and creativity at the heart of our football operations.  Importantly it is a validation of the football structure and philosophy that has been built over more than a decade and to which he has contributed so much.

“I’m sure all City fans share my delight in this new agreement and in anticipating the exciting opportunities that, with continued hard work, are there to be taken.”

Man City midfielder Phil Foden impressed during the England vs Iceland 4-0 win.

He scored two out of the four goals which lead to the England win, which definitely made everyone happy. In September, the 20 year old midfielder was dropped out of the squad over a discipline issue but came back now better than ever.

“It was one of the hardest moments of my life,” Foden told Sky Sports.

“That’s the time you need the trust of your manager and Gareth had a lot of respect for me and it means everything to me. I just wanted to repay him with goals and do well.

“I was just determined to come back and do the best I can. I was a little bit nervous at the start of this camp but I got used to it after a while.”

Gareth Southgate was very pleased with Foden and feels he is capable of continuing to impress for England.

“Tonight’s performance is why we picked him in September because we know what he is capable of,” Southgate said of the 20-year-old. “I’m really pleased for him and his family, to have the experience he had in September is really tough for a youngster and we all make mistakes.

“What we were intent on doing was making sure that when he came in this month in a difficult situation, you are walking in the door and you’re looking at everybody’s faces and you know the last time you saw them it was complicated.

“It took him a few days I think to settle into the camp and start to smile and relax a bit more – then tonight we felt was a really good game for him. We know what he is capable of doing and he is one who is going to be exciting for the next few years for England.”

Fabregas States Grievances With Guardiola

Fabregas States Grievances With Guardiola
Bildbyran

Former Barcelona and Chelsea player Cesc Fabregas has revealed his disappointments with Man City manager Pep Guardiola.

The former Barcelona player was asked if he has kept any contact with former manager Pep Guardiola.

Fabregas told CCMA: “No, no, with Pep nothing at all.

“I don’t know if the disappointment with Pep is mutual. Things happened, but I prefer not to talk about it. Pep was my idol since I was a child. It is from him that I have learned the most, perhaps, since I was four until now.”

However, one manager Fabregas has kept in contact with is Jose Mourinho.

“Mourinho inspired me the most when I left Barca,” Fabregas added.

“He told me that we had had our issues on the pitch when he was at Chelsea and I was at Arsenal and then when he was coaching at Real Madrid and I was at Barcelona, but that for him, it all ended there. We turned the page.

“He told me about his project. I had to go where I thought I would do best, the decision was mine and it didn’t depend on what people said. I prioritised the professional [aspect], and today I still write to him and I consider him a friend.

“He helped me a lot at a difficult time in my career and perhaps I played one of my best seasons with him.”
