Manchester City Ready To Hand Gabriel Jesus New Deal

Manchester City Ready To Hand Gabriel Jesus New Deal

Manchester City are readying up plans to extend Gabriel Jesus’ contract.

The Brazilian only has two more years left on his deal.

He is the chosen successor to Kun Aguero and City has full confidence in him. Jesus scored a stunning goal against Liverpool in the 1-1 draw against Manchester City last weekend.

Although his future has not always been certain at Etihad, City are willing to put aside any rumours for the time being. Juventus were reportedly interested in him in the summer of 2019. Atletico Madrid were linked with him as well but then ended up signing Joao Felix.

City are in need of a forward who can bring in goals regularly and Jesus has proven to do that. Sergio Aguero’s remarkable feat will be hard to replicate, especially over such a long period, spanning across a decade. The Argentine only has few more months left on his contract and talks of an extension have not come up yet.

If Aguero were to leave, there is no telling whether City will go out and sign someone new. But one thing is for sure – they want Jesus to stay. He is still only 23 years old and finding his form again after hitting an injury.

Nathan Ake Picks Up Injury On International Duty

Nathan Ake Picks Up Injury On International Duty

Manchester City suffered a major blow to their defensive lineup this week.

Nathan Ake limped off against Spain just six minutes into the game, clutching at his hamstring.

Pep Guardiola signed him for £40m last summer to cover several positions in his backline. Now, the Dutchman could be out for weeks as the schedule tightens up for English teams in December.

City are challenging for the Premier League and Champions League this season after facing disappointment last term. It was their gaps in defence that ended up costing them in both competitions last season.

That is centrally why Guardiola went out and spent over £100m on Ruben Diaz and Nathan Ake. While Ake isn’t a starter when everybody is fit, he is a highly versatile option with a lot of winning pedigree.

The 25-year-old graduated from the Chelsea academy to make a name for himself in the Premier League. He is capable of playing either at centre-back, left-back or in midfield. Ake offers the defensive cover which City has been lacking for some time now.

Unfortunately, his injury could be cause for concern. The Cityzens will only have Dias, Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Eric Garcia as their senior centre-halfs. Benjamin Mendy has dropped down the pecking order and only Joao Cancelo is considered good enough to appear regularly on the left.

Man City ace Kevin de Bruyne named the second-best football player in the world.

“Nobody could have done more than the silky-skilled attacking midfielder to take City where they want to go,” said Goal.

“Liverpool may have been crowned champions of England, but De Bruyne was the best player in the Premier League last season, with the 29-year-old not only scoring 13 goals but also racking up a record-equalling 20 assists.

“City may have missed out on Messi during the summer break, but as long as De Bruyne remains fit, Pep Guardiola’s side can continue to dream of finally ending their quest for European glory this term.”

Pep Guardiola urged to sign Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo deemed as a temporary replacement for Man City’s Sergio Aguero.

Man City’s all-time leading goalscorer Sergio Aguero has been restricted to only three games this season due to his numerous injury troubles.

Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus is not yet good enough to lead the line and Pep’s striker troubles might force him to shop for a forward in the January transfer window.

Former Chelsea midfielder Andy Townsend believes City would not make a mistake if they sign Cristiano Ronaldo next summer who’s current deal with Juventus expires in June 2022.

Andy Townsend told Drive on talkSPORT: “If you want goals then I think he’s still the ultimate goal machine.

“I know Messi and there has been so much mileage on the debate over the years but I still think Ronaldo still has the desire and want to be remembered as the greatest. He will in some people’s eyes but he won’t in others.

“He’s still got a desire to score goals. More than anything on the field now, he just wants to score goals.

“He’s at that period where his eyes light up every time there’s a free-kick at whatever angle. Whenever he gets the chance to shoot he will. Even when others are better placed, forget that.

“He’s unbelievable in the air, which we’ve seen in a Juventus shirt already.

“If he became available and Juve wanted out on him and Man City needed goals for their team then I don’t think you should hesitate in going to get Cristiano Ronaldo.

“He’s 35 and I still think he’s got 18 months in him. If he came to Man City and the way they play I think he could go there and get 25 in his first season.”

Manchester City’s Next Big Target Has To Be David Alaba

Manchester City's Next Big Target Has To Be David Alaba

Bayern Munich’s David Alaba is the hottest prospect in Europe right now.

His contract is due to run out in another 8 months and plenty of clubs are chasing his signature.

Manchester City have been urged to pursue a deal for the Austrian, seeing how he has already three offers from Bayern. Alaba could be Pep Guardiola’s permanent solution to the left-back role which is currently being filled up by Joao Cancelo.

Benjamin Mendy’s £50m signing has simply not worked out due to poor form and injuries. Alaba is already used to Guardiola’s style having played under him at Bayern before. He is still only 28 and in the prime of his career. City’s defence would take a huge boost if they manage to sign the versatile man.

“In terms of his ability, he absolutely fits. He is a super player,” Murphy told Stadium Astro.

“I suppose what you would have to be looking at from Jurgen Klopp’s perspective is the balance of the squad moving forward when everyone is fit. Or you just look short-term and get the best option in possible, which would be him.

“I would be wanting to do it. You can’t have enough good players. I think he would certainly add quality and strength in depth, but there will be a lot of people interested and a lot of takers for Alaba.”

Gary Neville States Manchester City Are Weaker This Season

Gary Neville States Manchester City Are Weaker This Season

According to Gary Neville, both Manchester City and Liverpool are currently weaker than previous seasons.

Both teams settled on a 1-1 draw in last weekend’s Premier League tie at the Etihad Stadium between them.

Gabriel Jesus equalized after Mohamed Salah’s penalty kick in the first half only to see Kevin De Bruyne miss a spot-kick a few minutes later.

“You wonder if it’s just as simple as not having Aguero? It can’t be that simple,” Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast.

“Something’s not the same. Both sides are a little bit weaker than they were two years ago, which makes the league more interesting. We’re seeing Leicester and Saints and Spurs top of the league, which we like.

“There certainly is a slight cause for concern for City. They’re less precise in their attacks, and it feels they rely more heavily on one player in Kevin De Bruyne than they did a few years ago, and if he’s not on song, they don’t really create nearly as much

“They’re not as good defensively, or as precise in attack, but they’re still a brilliant team. Now we’re just seeing a little bit of a drop off from that. Look at the league now, it’s bizarre.”

Pep rallies with other PL bosses against new rule!

Pep rallies with other PL bosses against new rule!

Pep Guardiola has rallied behind other managers to say that the PL fixture schedule is absolutely impossible to manage.

I don’t understand, I don’t know who is in charge to decide these things, but I don’t know how they don’t understand when all the leagues around the world except this league have five substitutions, to protect the players, to protect the footballers, to protect the physicality of playing every three days“, said Pep Guardiola.

He continued: “Maybe this league likes to be different. The situation is unusual; it is different. That’s why I am surprised, I don’t understand, and since I have a microphone and people ask me about this, I will have the same theory. It’s not to take advantage, it’s to protect the players, today a right-back from the national team is injured for that reason, and tomorrow it will be another player.

“Today the right-back for the national team for England is injured, and other players. It’s so demanding for the players, the same argument all the time,” he concluded.

Speaking about the game, Pep added: I am maybe happier than ever [with the start]. 12 games, we lost one in all competitions. We concede three penalties, today we concede one because we didn’t learn, hopefully this is the last time we give the opponents a penalty like this.”

Jesus Not Satisfied With Liverpool Draw

Jesus Not Satisfied With Liverpool Draw

Gabriel Jesus believes that Man City should have won and not drawn with Liverpool.

Man City drew 1-1 with Liverpool, with Jesus scoring the goal to make it a draw. However, he was satisfied with the result.

The 23 year told BBC Sport: “The result is not good for us, we know that because we are at home and have to try to win our games here but it was a tough game. They are the champions but we cannot drop these points.”

He continued to Sky Sports: “It was a top game. We know they work hard and have a lot of amazing players. We had a chance to win the game.

“Both teams wanted to win. Sometimes when it’s like this you have to control the ball more. We have to keep playing like this and try to convert the chances.

“We played at home and we have to win the games here. The result is not good for us and maybe it’s good for them.”

Jesus recently came back to the pitch, after recovering from an injury – making the Liverpool match only his second appearances for City this season.

“I feel good and feel confident. Of course it is different, my physical condition is not the same and now I go to my international team and try to help my country,” he said.

“When I come back I will try to come back in good physical condition. That is the challenge for me, keep fit and don’t get injured because this season is going to be dangerous for players because too many games.”

Pep Guardiola talks about taking the next step with Raheem Sterling

Pep Guardiola talks about taking the next step with Raheem Sterling

Pep Guardiola has talked about the development of Raheem Sterling as a player.

The Spaniard has overseen the growth of Raheem from a talented winger into a smart finisher as well under his tutelage in the last four years.

“I think he’s a better player than when I arrived and hopefully in four years’ time, he will be better than he is right now,” said Guardiola,

“I think he’s an exceptional player. There will be a moment when he will take a rest, but at the moment he’s such an important player for us.

“I’ve seen his mentality and desire and he’s improved a lot since we arrived, but I wish in three, four of five years he will be a much, much better player than he is today.”

Asked if Sterling can better, Guardiola expressed a lot of confidence.

“My advice to him would be don’t think about this, there’s no sense [in that].

“Just enjoy life, focus and the destiny will dictate who he is as a player, but he’s one of the [most] fantastic players I’ve ever had in my career as a manager.

“It all depends on him of course, and his performance.”

Bernardo Silva believes City has an advantage over Liverpool

A home advantage could be beneficial for Pep Guardiola’s side when they take on Liverpool on Sunday.

The Reds have maintained a strong form in the Premier League despite a humiliating 7-2 loss against Aston Villa a month back.

City on the other hand had a bumpy start to the Premier League with a series of injuries that led to an array of inconsistent results.

Man City are currently five points behind champions Liverpool and they can increase the lead to eight points if City fails to secure the three points at home.

“We expect a very tough match against Liverpool, we know how strong and solid they are, one of the best teams in the world,” the Portuguese said.

“They are also a direct rival for the Premier League title, so we know how difficult it will be, but like in every game our aim is to win.

“We are also playing at home, which should have a positive influence. We need these three points in order to pursue our place at the top of the table.

“The true is that our last encounters with Liverpool at the Etihad were positive for us. Since I have joined City, we won all our games against Liverpool at home in the Premier League, but these games are always unpredictable.

“We’ll do everything to keep winning and to win on Sunday. We know it will not be easy, but we will do everything we can.”
